nothing against the brands your looking at, but have you researched any others? JP rifles, DPMS, list go's on forever, I have been through a couple different triggers on AR-15s & eventually ended up happy with JP triggers for them, when I built my AR-308 I was disappointed with it in that rifle & got a Geissele SD-E 2 stage, it's on the pricey side but well worth it

so my new build which most here are familiar with shot good with out any hiccups when I broke the barrel in, however I did have some gripes about my shooting with it, #1 the trigger, I put a JP easy trigger in it "single stage" I have those in a couple of my AR15s and like them, but in the 308 needing a heavier hammer spring I just wasn't happy with the trigger pull, ya know the old saying buy once cry once? well the Geissele SD-E 2 stage feels incredible after fitting it in, I cant wait to shoot it tomorrow. #2 the JP adjustable gas block, this build has a side charger & occasionally I would like to run a can on it, so I would like to be able to adjust the gas & would like to shut it off entirely & use the side charger like a bolt gun when I want on the fly, the JP gas block that I got is more of a set it & forget it type of block "bummed me out a bit" so in came the SLR Rifle works gas block, the way the adjustments work on it should work out great, for those not familiar with them it has an allen head at the front that has very noticeable clicks as you turn it. going to recycle the old parts on a friends 1st AR15 build, so I'll get part of my money back gonna head to the range first thing in the morning & test it out, I'm just blown away about how good the trigger feels it is amazing & was only about 5 to10 minutes install it, total breeze

thanks guys, ordered a Phase 5 bolt catch/release & an SLR rifle works gas block for it today, discovered using the side charger that if left it in the rearward position my thumb takes a hell of a beating when I hit the bolt release, also a big part of the reason I wanted that side charger was so that I could shut the gas off & basically run it like a bolt action when I want & also to adjust when I get to put a can on it, the JP gas block is more of a set it & forget it as compared to adjust on the fly, so I'm looking forward to adding those two parts to it, I'll throw the JP gas block on one of my AR15's

finally got it to the range & broke it in, gun ran great, 2 boxes of 168 grain federal gold was superb, going to try some of the 175 grain gold next time, I only shot 5 rounds of Aguila 150, it was pretty bad "not surprising" 2 boxes of Norma 150 grain & it wasn't to shabby "pleasantly surprised", the gun ran with out a hiccup, I need to turn the gas down a little but other then that it was great, barrel break in & first shots through a new build always have me nervous & on high alert from past experiences, it wasn't until I got it home & did a final cleaning & inspection that my nerves settled down about this build, looking forward to sitting down for some longer ranges with this rifle & running some of the other good stuff I picked up for it, cheers all

don't think I would call it a SPR, but I do look forward to running a can on it, it's got a JP adjustable gas block so I can turn it down when I have the opportunity

not sure yet, by hand though it feels a little lighter then an 11lb rifle I have, probably in the 9 to 10lb range unloaded right now, & that's with the bi pod off

it's like that on every other vent closest to the receiver, for reaching in with an allen wrench to tight it down

well except for the scope that's on back order, did the dura coat yesterday thinking I would need to wait at least a couple days before messing with it "wrong" dont think I could of waited another 5 minutes when I got home from work today with the exception of the Juggernaut lower receiver this rifle is pretty much all JP, JP upper duel charge with their super match 18" barrel, used the JP easy trigger, low mass carrier, silent capture spring, ergo grip, waiting on the vortex viper PST 6x24

sounds like the timing is out of wack, either cycling to fast "like edge said" or to slow, next time you go to the range watch where your shells are going, if their flying forward to 1 or 2 oclock it's cycling to fast, 4 or 5 oclock "rearward" = to slow, a simple remedy for to slow is get a lighter buffer, to fast = get a heavier buffer, another option if cycling to fast is to get an adjustable gas block so you can restrict the amount of gas the rifle needs to cycle properly, being that is working with heavy ammo & not lighter I would lean toward your buffer is to heavy & its not getting enough gas pressure to cycle the carrier, I've experienced both scenarios that you are having, the only difference is I dealt with them on AR-15 platforms, when I had the low pressure problem I ended up replacing the buffer & the gas block so that I could adjust the gas for different ammo

update: I finally got started on the lower a couple days ago, ran in to a couple speed bumps with the Juggernaut jig kit but in the end it is now a 100% lower, I just finished test fitting most of the lower parts & fitting it to the upper, the JP trigger is just a hair snug in the trigger cavity "easy fix" going to sand it a bit with some 220, the JP duel charge upper fits extremely snug to the lower "rear take down pin was a bit tough to get through the first time" I would call that a good thing myself, no gaps at all. the JP silent capture spring fits great without using the retaining pin, when charging both chargers it feels very smooth & the trigger is very short & clean after adjusting it. so far so good, hopefully it stays that way after the paint process, I picked up a couple cans of dura-coat od green that I'm going to paint the hand guard & lower /upper receivers with still waiting on the scope from Optics Planet "back ordered" they say it should be there on the 24th I picked up quite a bit of ammo "thanks all for the input" a 100 rounds each of a four different brands of match grade good stuff varying in 168 grain & 175 grain, also 400 of some Norma USA 150 grain for plinking fun , I will update more as this gets finished up & hopefully be giving a range report in a couple weeks.

from reading the topic on yours it sounds like you had your hands full with trouble shooting, I hope I dont run in to the same issues, I have a JP upper & almost everything I got for the build from JP as well, trigger/ carrier/ bolt, I got their silent capture buffer which from what I have read doesn't require the use of the retainer pin, we'll see how it all works out. I finished the lower today & am going to test fit everything tomorrow, after a test fit I'm going to dura coat the lower, upper receiver & hand guard, I'm still waiting on the scope from Optics Planet "back ordered" I plan on painting it as well, hopefully I'll be resting this rifle out in a couple weeks

hi all, so I came on here a couple months back when I ordered everything for my 308 build & got way to busy to start on it until today, so today I started on the Juggernaut JT10 80% lower & came in to a few speed bumps I will call them with it. #1: their video & instructions they provide via youtube & some very basic instructions that take all of about 1 minute to read on paper were actually set for their AR15 lower & not the 308, while they are for the most part the same in principle they just dont work out real well without a little extra work, with their jig if you follow the instructions it will end up with quite a bit of bowing in it, they should have provided shims for the bolts "no problem my pop made a set" #2: the billet aluminum their using gave me a little bit of trouble "maybe this is common & I'm just a newbie" while drilling out the 1/8" holes in the top I ran in to an area where all of the sudden the aluminum got so hard I had to put an immense amount of pressure on it to get another 1/4" of hole drilled out " I was keeping an average of a 1/4" at a time between cleaning & lubricating" this continued with a group of holes all in one area of the receiver, biggest issue with this is that I had a bit snap off in one of the holes, I left it & will deal with that tomorrow. so I finished off the rest of the 1/8" holes & decided to call it a day, images are the shims that pop made fore the jig & pop at the lathe, I'll add an update after working on it tomorrow

I had been considering Millett & Sightron but I have a Vortex Viper 6.5-20x44 and have been so happy with it I decided to stick with the brand

I'll be buying off the shelf, wish I had the time to get in to loading my own but I work way to much, & thanks for the welcome & the ammo tip

Hi all, well I have been researching & planning my 1st 308 for over a year & I finally broke down & dropped the cash, I'm building the lower from a Juggernaut tactical lower & the upper will be coming from JP rifles, a duel charging upper reciever with an 18" barrel, with the exception of the lower receiver everything is pretty much all JP stuff, topping it off with a Vortex 6-24x50 PST scope, I decided to go at this build with absolutely no budget & just get what I want, been working to hard for to long to not treat myself on this one. a question to all regarding ammo, what are you running & what do you like about it, what ammo have you had problems with, this rifle will be mostly a bench gun reaching out as far as I can & occasional hunting gun, but quite often I just want to have fun shooting cheaper plinking ammo like I do on my ar15s, so I'm now researching ammo for the rifle, looking to load up on some cheap yet reliable plinking ammo & also load up on quality long range ammo. thanks for any & all input DB
