I looked at skeletonized AR’s at Palmetto State and the receivers don’t look any thicker than ones without material cut out of them. I would think you should be fine, especially since you’re only planing a couple slots.

I have a Matrix on my Grendel, awesome rail! I wish they would make the same version for the .308 because I'd like one on my current project.

Howdy. Found another forum to join, looks like a nice one. Normally I'm putting together 5.56 or 6.5 Grendels but I've rebuilt one .308 already and now working on another. This one will be more of a tactical style rifle with an 18" barrel and collapsible stock. Anyway, been into AR's since I touched my first M-16 back when i joined the Army in the 80's. Got my first personal MSR in 2008 and have rebuilt it several tomes along with building other calipers. Some I keeps On my way! I flip to build another. As said earlier, I'm Army and still in the reserves. I'm also DOD for the Navy. This is the last .308 I did. Converted an R25 from .270 to .308. Stripped the woodland camo off and redid it in Ultra flat tactical black from DuraCoat. A sweet shooter but I didn't keep it. Here's a pic. Until next time... chris
