Makes sense, all around. I recalled in earlier shooting, when I changed from a 4"Python to a 6", my recoil was less but the stamina needed to stay on target was increased. That was my basis. Velocity increase does ring true...less wasted energy when it propels the round over a longer distance because the burn rate is maximized

is this issue indicative of specific manufacturers? What about accuracy over distance, old way of thought was longer barrel meant truer/flatter trajectory. Would a fluted barrel be worth the extra cost if it gave the desired length? What about crowned barrels versus threaded for flash hider or muzzle brake?

Good idea to mull over. THe actual weight for the additional two inches would be that much? Or is it a cascade effect because now everything is longer and adds?

Thanks for the welcome guys, appreciate it. One of the stupidest questions you have probably heard, but I need to ask. Is there a complete list of parts need for a build? I'm not sure where to look and quite honestly, opinions differ. I've got my lower, an LPK and desire to begin....that's all. My purpose for this, is to be a long range PSR that'll be used for hunting coyotes, elk, bear and antelope. I love the platform, that's why I'm building. My thoughts are for a 20" SS 1:10 barrel and a FF barrel shroud with low profile gasblock. I don't like Troy, so I'll not use their stuff. Where do I begin? The lower is DMPS style, but I'm not sure if it's a high profile or low. I prefer to have forward assist button and I am left-handed. I guess that would mean I'll be thinking of using a Raniers ambi charger.Any suggestions are always welcomed.

Well, it said to drop in and introduce myself. Name is Robert and live in Montana. I've been in to black rifles for awhile now and decided to go big finally. I was looking for a place to learn about this black beauty we call an AR10/.DPMS.308 style EBR. I'm looking to build mine from a LE lower I have and gonna make it purty, deadly and accurate. Hunting has caused a need for a type of rifle that can reach out and touch my prey and I just didn't want to go stock. So....drop me a line to say "hey" and offer up advice, I'm a big boy open to learning. I'm also looking to make local friends to hunt and shoot with. Have a safe one.
