  1. UPDATE: Got this on 10/24 - Hello Carl, I apologize for the delay on your order. We ran into a supply issue with the KAK blades. We received them in yesterday and are filling orders in the order that they were received! As soon as yours is on the way you will get an email from us with your tracking! Thank you, McKall Gibson Customer Service Still no shipment notification. On a related note, I ordered the exact same thing from Schuyler Arms on 10/23, and it was delivered on 10/26. I kid you not. Ha so I am now the happy owner of an AR pistol, and if the Delta Team Tactical people ever send me the other one, I'll have an excuse to build another.
  2. I ordered a KAK Blade kit from them on 10/12 and got an order confirmation email the same day... 11 days later, still has not shipped. I called last Friday, got a VM message "We are receiving an unusually high number of calls, please email us." Same story today, so I emailed asking for an update. Anyone else buy anything from these people before? If so, what was your experience? I've ordered gun parts from probably 20-25 different vendors online over the years, and have never had to wait more than 3-4 business days for something to ship. (Obviously if I was warned something wasn't in stock, that's a different story. Here, there was no warning.)
  3. Full photo.
  4. First .308 AR rifle - bought a complete upper assembly and lower assembly separately from PSA, made a few changes and slapped them together. Upper was $399, lower was $159. Swapped the grip for a BCM Mod 3 grip and the stock/buffer assembly for a UTG A2-style stock with a GG&G slot sling endplate. Added Ozark Armament canted iron sights, a Burris AR-P.E.P.R. mount and Nikon Buckmasters II 4-12x40 scope. Also installed anti-walk hammer and trigger pins from Squirrel Daddy (lol). Bought 20rd PMAGs and also a couple Brownells (brand labeled?) 20rd aluminum mags. They were $9/ea so I hope they work. Total cost including scope and mount, not including mags, sling, shipping and transfer fees - $939. My only complaints thus far - the handguard (Midwest Industries) is a completely different shade (more satin) and texture from the receivers (not sure if it shows up in these pictures); and there is a very noticeable gap between the upper and lower receivers. I have a large box of CBC ammo to break it in, hopefully this weekend, and I bought a few other boxes of different ammo to see how the gun cycles various brands. Will post target photos as soon as I can. This gun is heavy, but feels great when shouldered. I'm 6'5" and it feels more comfortable/natural to hold when compared to my AR-15. Haven't even shot it yet and I'm hooked on this platform!
  5. https://www.strikeindustries.com/shop/index.php/viper-modular-fixed-stock-1115.html Just discovered this. I've always wondered why there wasn't a "fixed" stock that is compatible with standard 6 position buffer tubes. Have not been able to find a single review for this online, and Strike has only posted a video of the monopod system (which looks pretty slick). They say an install video is coming soon.... My questions are, how does it install and is there any wobble between the extension shims when all are installed? Anyone used one of these yet?
  6. Decided to build my first 308 AR (have previously built an AR-15 from the ground up) and got frustrated trying to figure out what is compatible with what, so found this forum as a place that would consolidate all the information I'd need. So far extremely pleased!
  7. A few questions: 1. You mentioned earlier on seeing that the firing pin retaining cotter spring was bent and you replaced it - ever figure out why that happened? 2. I've read elsewhere that the clamp style gas block is preferable to the set screw style, due to less (or more even) pressure being put on the barrel. Is this only a concern for a true precision rifle and not something to be considered with a "budget" AR? 3. Is it worth buying the gauges to test head space with any new AR? Or only if you're experiencing cycling issues? 4. You've done a lot of ammo testing on different days with different barrels. In your opinion at this point what's the best non-match grade ammo (ie relatively affordable) for this rifle (with stock barrel)? Thanks!
  8. Thanks very much for this and the previous response on this topic!
  9. This is a very informative thread. I am picking up a PSA Gen2 complete lower this afternoon and will being building around it, and I've picked up a lot of interesting bits of information from your notes. Can you reiterate why you installed an adjustable gas block?
  10. Thanks for the welcome! I'll add to the intro section soon. A company called Veriforce Tactical offers a complete upper assembly that they claim is compatible, so I'll try to find more information about them. They're the only manufacturer that has responded claiming they're compatible with PSA lowers. Glad to hear the Gen2's seem better. I want a budget AR but still something reliable and adequately accurate.
  11. Have a PSA PA10 complete lower en route, which is why I joined this forum. I've wanted an AR-style .308 rifle for a while, and noticed that PSA had these on sale for $159 so I jumped on it (my local FFL said he couldn't touch the price, it was below dealer cost). Having ordered the lower a week ago, I've been searching for other options besides the PSA uppers, and I've quickly learned how difficult it is to build a Franken-gun in this platform. I built an AR-15 from scratch and it was easy to source parts, this has been a nightmare. No manufacturers will give me a clear answer as to what's compatible with what, and I've come to the conclusion I should have started with an Aero Precision lower, I like the look of their offerings and the reviews I've seen online. Hopefully the PSA upper isn't as bad as some reviews say they are... if so, I'll end up with a serviceable .308 AR for under $700 which would be pretty awesome. We shall see..
