Im starting to locate parts for my first build and found a barrel I like. is it wise to start a build focused around a specific barrel?

Hello 308 members. My name is Marty and came to this particular site through the recommendation of my friend Armed Eye Doc. I explained my reluctance of the forum to him due to excessive drama and crap in forums past. Because he recommended I joined and have been poking around for a few days and am impressed with the people and their vast knowledge on numerous topics. I served 5 years in the USAF and 7 as a Texas Peace Officer. Through the years have acquired a nice collection weapons but now i'm trying something new. I am going build my first AR308. Should be interesting. I am looking forward to meeting many of you here.
