My buddy that ordered the scope for me called today and said he was notified it has shipped finally. He also said this is a new version of the SMRS 1-6.5, I guess they revamped and updated the line up last year. I'm not sure what exactly that means but I'm excited to get this thing and try it out.

I see that people aren't used to it now, obviously it' a 308 AR forum predominantly. Like I said, I'm getting back into the hobby and this is the first forum I've joined/rejoined. I understand I'm the "new guy" and I know how the forums work (kinda ?), people can be curious of someone they haven't seen around.

It happens. When 98Z5V was trying to help me diagnose my PA10's overgas issue yesterday, it took me 3 separate posts to finally give him all the info he asked me for to help ?.

No issues, I'd rather someone remind me of important details I may have missed. I haven't been on the various gun forums for a few year's and I'm just getting back into the swing of things. I was most active on TheHighRoad and 24hrcampfire but also 68forums for a bit too. My handle was either "dubya3" "vance3" or something similar to that but I have a new email these days ?

This is exactly what it came off from PSA, ordered 3/4/18 and picked up yesterday morning from my local FFL.
-
Correct, it was off a mil-spec AR15, or "PA15" as Palmetto calls it
-
Its in the OP that it's a mil-spec tube. Bought as a Complete AR15 lower, I actually bought two, that are identical, and put a 5.56 16" Carbine upper on the other. It fires fine with factory loaded Federal AE223BL 55gr ammo that I had on hand yesterday, I can't imagine the buffer kit I'm trading/selling would be any different.
-
I just picked up a new PSA complete lower receiver yesterday and have decided to build with a rifle length fixed stock. I'd like to trade my mil-spec carbine kit for your rifle kit (A1/A2). That includes the buffer, spring, tube and the proper plate & lock ring/nut. I also have a new Magpul MOE carbine stock that came on the same lower I'd sell or trade with the buffer kit. I could also use a fixed rifle length MOE stock if anyone has one not being used. I ship USPS priority tracked and insured

I have a factory sealed case of 500 rounds of Federal XM68GD which is a 90 grain Gold Dot soft point. The terminal ballistics of this round are very impressive if you check out a few gelitan tests on YouTube. I picked up 2 cases of this ammo almost two years ago and still have the full case and about 50 rounds left out of the other case, but I recently sold my 6.8 upper. I'd like $275 + paypal fees & shipping (CONUS only) or trade/partial trade for: -Magpul MOE fixed rifle length stock - black -Magpul MOE or MIAD grip - black -SLR Sentry 7 adjustable gas block .750 dia -Aero Precision lightweight scope mount SPR -factory loaded Federal 5.56 ammo PM for more details please

Okay, I'll order one of those. Is there any temporary trick like sticking a couple quarters in the tube? I've had nearly a dozen AR15s but never had to mess with the recoil system other than gas blocks, and this is my first 308 AR platform. Hopefully I can learn enough to help my two buddies get theirs running smoothly, if needed. The other thing I was curious about without tearing mine apart, is the barrel dimpled for the gas block? The SLR Sentry 7 is what I'm planning on ordering, along with the spring you suggested.
-
Internal depth of my buffer tube is about 7.75" Spring wire diameter is 5/64" or 1.85mm Buffer length is 3.25" Two of my buddies ordered complete PA10 Gen 2 lowers yesterday, one a basic version and the other has the ACS stock and EPT trigger group. I'll share their specs here when they arrive.
-
Sorry, I'm not sure how to edit my post but the internal depth of my buffer tube is about 7.75"
-
I'm glad this was caught before it got any worse. You can see where part of the bolt carrier was slamming into the receiver extension threads.
-
I just checked the PA10 buffer (orange), it's definitely heavier than my 5.56 Carbine 3oz buffer (clear) by feel, I don't have a scale handy though. The spring is 11.5" long with 29 coils (I think) and it's a PA10 rifle length buffer tube. It's looking like it's overgassed or the action is too fast without a doubt. The buffer and receiver extension threads are getting beat up prematurely after less than 500 rounds. I think I'll put this one out of service until I can get my hands on an adjustable gas block and Tubbs flat spring. ? I may have gas/timing issues but haven't had any issues with 440 rds of Federal Lake City & Anoka ammo, or the one box of Hornady Black I've fired. I was surprised to see the Hornady have a damaged rim but the Federal doesn't have as much as a scratch.
-
Its a pretty much bone stock PA10 Gen 2 with the stainless 20" barreled upper and rifle length gas. I'm not positive but I think the buffer is a standard 3oz and I have a M41 brake installed. I do plan on adding a Sentry adjustable gas block in the near future. I'll post a pic of the hornady brass compared to the federal brass when I get home.
-
I haven't had any real issues with mine yet in 460 rounds, but I've noticed I'm best off shooting Federal ammo if I plan to reload the brass. The Hornady brass must be softer because part of the rim is pretty much ripped clean off nearly every case by the ejector. Ejection is about 1 o'cock.

Agreed. At this point I feel like the only thing that can tightenup groups is a better trigger, this still has an icky mil-spec trigger in it, and possibly load development. But that can be said with about any rifle.

I'm still waiting on my scope to arrive (ordered directly through Bushnell) butI did get out to the range for the second time yesterday. I ran another 80 rounds of Federal XM80 mil-surp and 20 rounds of Federal Premium Sierra Matchking. After the first time at the range and a good cleaning I was pretty surprised how much the XM80 groups shrunk. I went from around 3" groups at 9 power a couple weeks ago to about 1.5" groups at 6.5 power (wanted to get used to what my incoming scope's max power is) at 100 yards. The Federal Premium SMK didn't do a whole lot better than the first time I fired my PA10, other than the fact I was shooting at a lower magnification this time around. 1st picture is XM80 @ 100 and the 2nd pic is Federal Premium SMK @ 100 yards with a bad flyer included ? 240 round with no malfunctions, so far anyway. Once again I'm very happy with the results from this $600 rifle.

I have a basically new Mesa Tactical Urbino stock I'd like to sell or trade. I originally bought the stock for my 870 Express, and did mount it, but sold the gun a couple weeks later before I got the chance to fire it with the new stock. It has everything it came with in the package still. I'm located just north of the Twin Cities, MN and would be happy to do a face to face deal, or I can ship via USPS Priority tracked and insured. I'd be open to trading for a AR15 carbine buffer tube with spring and H1 buffer. Otherwise I'm asking $70 FTF or $85 shipped in the US. Email is probably the quickest way to reach me - bvw0914 at gmail.com Thanks! dubya

I realize this is a long dead thread but, I'm curious if you still have the 901 and if so, how do you like it down the road? I wanted to pick one of these up 5-6 years ago when I found out about it but it was a bit too expensive at the time. Now it's even more expensive but I plan on picking one up, thank God for tax refunds ?. I've heard they now come with the 5.56/ar15 magwell adapter and buffer/spring, which is a nice addition that should have always been included.

FYI... PSA using 2 different buffer system lengths
dubya replied to bfoosh006's topic in Palmetto State Armory
Actually you can install the Gen 3 on a carbine or rifle buffer tube, that was one of the upgrades with the G3. I installed a PRS on my PA10 with 20 inch barrel and a pretty heavy Precision Armament M41 brake. The rifle is much more balanced now with the PRS compared to the MOE it came with. -

$200 & free shipping at Brownells with a cupon code i found using Google. Nice stock but I'd never pay $300 for one. -
Request: PSA offer upper with adjustable gas block
dubya replied to erichard's topic in Palmetto State Armory
For what it's worth, I was certain I needed an AGB since I built my PA10 after reading numerous threads on the forums. I shot it for the first time today and I have to say that I'm very glad I didn't waste upwards of $80 on one. The rifle shot perfectly fine through 140 rounds of mil-surp, Hornady and Federal Premium. Cases look fine and ejection was ideal. Blue109 may be onto something here, although I do agree that the uppers should have a version offered with an AGB for those that want one anyway. Can't hurt. -
Well I finally got the PA10 out to the range today and I have to say I'm extremely pleased with this rifle. After reading about so many issues with the PA10 I fully expected to run into at least one or two hiccups but it ram and functioned flawlessly. Well, almost flawlessly, I did have an issue with my 10 round pmag popping out after the second round fired 2 different times. Im not sure what the deal was since all four of my 20 round pmags were perfect, maybe I need to do just a touch of sanding to the 10 rounder. My scope probably won't be here for another 2-3 weeks so my buddy lent me a cheap 3x9 Nikon and a spare bipod to use until the Bushnell shows up. I fired 80 rounds of Federal XM80, 40 rounds of Federal Premium Sierra Matchking and 20 rounds of Hornady Black with Amax bullets. After getting the scope dialed in I was shooting fairly quickly at 100 yards. The Matchking rounds were by far the most accurate at about 1 1/2" with the XM80 pushing 3". I'm pretty sure I can shrink those group's after a good cleaning and taking my time more with the shots. I woulkd have been happy with it as a deer rifle if it was sub 2 MOA at the price point. All in all, I have no complaintsso far and think it' a fantastic rifle for a whopping $600 ($180 for the complete lower with the EPT trigger group & $420 for th4 20" stainless barreled upper). In total with the Bushnell SMRS scope, brake and PRS stock I'm close to $1600, but if someone wanted a true budget build staying under $800 scoped, this is a great choice from what I've seen so far. I might skip getting an adjustable gas block for now since it doesn't seem to be overly gassed, but I might try out a nice drop in trigger. dubya
