  1. I've got just about everything to finish my M5 build. Just lacking the buttstock, but that'll have to come at a later date. I picked up a Chandler Hardwoods 15", But it didn't come with any installation instructions, What i need to know, if you use the same torque specs as an AR15? Thanks
  2. My plans on the 243 build has changed. It'll now be a 20" 7mm-08, I think it'll fit in nicely as a deer/hog caliber.
  3. I'm not to picky on the stock, really any carbine stock will do. I'm thinking about another strike industries stock, not to pricey, with a tight fit. Aboat the same with handguard, any 15" keymod or MLok will do. It's not like i'm going to shouldering it. Those discussions over X-caliber is what moved my Focus to Ritchs. Wilson combat also has a 243 barrel, but I'm really looking for a 20" 1-9 twist instead of their 18" 1-10 twist
  4. You're close! I don't use a lead sled, I use an adaptive rig from Beadative. http://beadaptive.com/products.html I've been hunting with brakes since About 1998 with a 22-250 with the BOSS system, Then with a 25.06 with a custom brake. That was all with my original adaptive equipment, that i was able to operate a bolt action myself easily. that equipment mess up, i wasn't able to find anyone to repair the electronics on it, So i was out of the hunting world for a few years, Since adaptive hunting equipment is so expensive. I started saving for replacement equipment in 2014, that winter i heard on my radio station of a person in need, So i took from my savings to help them. That on air radio personality, found out what i need, Through her and the radio station helped raised the money for my replacement equipment. To say i was blessed was is an understatement. I learned quick, That operating a bolt action myself with the new equipment wasn't a option. So i stepped into the AR world with a DPMS GII bull which has a crowned barrel, Which has been almost perfect, But the muzzle jump with my equipment through a follow up shot on hogs out of the question. I researched having a brake put on it, but never followed through in fear of messing up the great accuracy it has. So i built an AR15 in 6.5G with a VG6 brake, it's accomplished what i set out to do, Calm muzzle jump. It's just not proven yet, Since i struck out this deer season, Since i wasn't able to make it to my friends place in Central Texas this year. So i hunted what i could at my buddies lease in east Texas, But since my wheelchair doesn't have pontoons, it wasn't much lol I stumbled into a Aero M5 lower for $100, That's lead me to built what i really wanted, large frame AR in 243. Which i think will make the perfect all around caliber for Texas humting. Thanks to this forum, I've been able to gather everything, But a stock, handguard and Barrel for my build. But, that'll have to come later down the road as i save, because buying all upfront like a lot do, is out of the question for me. I'm going to try to pick up the stock and FF handguard on the used market to save a little $$ as for the barrel, i was going to use X-caliber after so research i found the Predator masters forum, they highly recommend Ritchs Precision for AR 243 barrel. So i figure since price is the same, I'll give Ritchs a shot. Since there seems to be no gas port troubles with his barrels. Yes, it will have some kind of obnoxious brake on it! Thanks for all the Welcomes, i enjoy reading the knowledge thats posted here on the 308AR. Here's A video i have using my GII, you can see the full affect it has with jumping around.
  5. No Sir, I don't let anything stop me. Thank you, Sir. I keep a positive outlook on life, Because being pissed off at the world due to an injury would have made the last 22 years one rough path
  6. Thanks for the welcome y'all. the reading i've been doing, I've seen there a lot of Smartasses on this forum. I like it! I may not have much info to share over the 308AR's, But i'm learning with every post read. Now if someone needs help with adaptive equipment to get people with disabilities back in the woods, I'm your man. since i'm a quadriplegic
  7. I think i see where this gentlemen is getting confused. I believe the info he's been told/ read on other forums is about the AR15 and not a 308AR. reason i say this is because i built a AR15 rifle gas 18". The questions he's asking is the troubles ran into with this setup on Ar15 platform. What they are trying to explain to you is, Yes the rifle gas setup should work in your build. But, there is no guarantee because the 308AR's can be finicky to get tuned right. them pointing you to the Armalite carbine buffer kit, is because it'll work on any 308AR no matter if it's DPMS style or Armalite. it's just a 100% proven setup to work right the first. I'm in the process of building my first 308AR too. It's pretty much the same parts list as you're using. ( Just mine will be in 243, instead of 308) But, I bought the Armalite Carbine kit on the recommendation of the forum members here. Once you read throught the forum here, you'll see these guys will steer you in the right direction with as few headaches as possible.
  8. i've been reading and a few post on here the past several weeks, I've seen a lot of post telling people introduce your self. So I figured I should too. Great information for first time 308AR builders like me. I'm Jeremy. Just east of Dallas, Texas
  9. I just looked through my receipt and it's a M3 10 rounder. http://www.buckeyetactical.com/magpul-pmag-10-lr-sr-gen-m3-magazine-lr-308-sr-25-m110-sass-308-winchester-10-round-polymer-black.html
  10. i don't remember which Gen right off. I can check later. Just off the top of my head, I know it's a 10 round Pmag i pick up for hunting
  11. I own a GII, It holds the bolt open with Pmags.
  12. Yes, i read you're post on the X-Caliber barrel. It was the most informative during my searching. 20" is the most i'm looking to go, I'm thinking a 1-9 twist will be a good compromise between the 1-8 and 1-10 twist barrels. I've got a DPMS GII with the 24" bull, it's a little long while hunting. I thought about having it cut down to a 20", it's a great shooter and i don't want to risk loosing it's accuracy. I'm settling in on the X-Caliber barrel, Since i found the one i'm wanting through a Texas dealer for $306 shipped.
  13. I guess i should say, I just ordered the Armalite buffer kit!
  14. Yes, i found this one and added it to my list instead of the Aero. https://www.armalite.com/product/ar10rekit01-6-position-receiver-extension-kit/
  15. This is my first AR 308 build. I've had a lot of my questions answered by reading through this forum. Build list: Aero lower/upper Aero LPk Buffer kit? probably Aero Car kit. unless other recommendations? BCG? I was wondering if toolcraft would work in the Aero? i know they're GTG in the AR15 or would i be best staying with Aero to? barrel is the problem, i'm wanting to build in 243, i've read about the X-caliber barrel on the forum, they seem to be accurate, Just lacking in gas port size, but easy fix. I'm looking at a 20" 1-9 twist rifle with SPR. But, I've also found Wilson combat http://shopwilsoncombat.com/Match-Grade-Barrel-243-Winchester-Ultimate-Hunter-18-1-10-Twist-Stainless/productinfo/TR-243UHRG18RC10/ Also found a KAK https://www.kakindustry.com/lr-308-parts/243-winchester-parts/kak-243-stainless-19-inch-rifle-stainless-barrel This will be for a Texas deer gun at 300 yards or less, So i don't think the FPS I'd drop from a 20" to 18" will hurt me any, Since not many choices in 243. Any help on which way to go, would be great.
