  1. He is not wrong, the 1-6 that is $400 is like equal to the Vortex Strike Eagle series roughly. They are made in China if I remember correctly. The higher end $1000+ dollar 1-8's are Japanese made like the Vortex Razors but if I wanted to spend that kinda money, I'd get a Vortex I think. I'm either going to get the 1-6 FFP or the 4-16x44 FFP and honestly, I'm leaning towards the 1-6 FFP and a 16" cut down. I also like the idea of the shorter DD 762 rail and the 13" barrel too. I had the 3-18x50mm FFP ACSS but the thing was SO big and bulky.
  2. My understanding is they made this rail for the COLT AR-10 (originally the rail was called the AR-10 Lite Rail) for the SCAR-Heavy program but I believe the GOVT went with the KAC M110 instead. It was never a big seller for them and they finally decided to make there own 308 rile.
  3. They DO make 1-8x that is FFP but those are like Vortex Razor HD II-e priced!
  4. Had that, sold it. I can't stand the fact that the reticle does not get smaller on 1x. I would be all over it if it was FFP. They only offer the 1-6 in FFP at that price point.
  5. Armalite does not offer a 16" rifle length stainless match grade barrel! 🙂
  6. I ended up just deciding to keep the thing. I had another sale all set up after making this post. Local guy contacts me through a local board and said if I could hold it a week, he would take it. I spoke with him throughout the week and then messaged him the Thursday night before the Friday we were supposed to meet to confirm. He would have cash so we set up a time and all that. Next day (Friday) rolls around, I left work to meet up with him and he was a no show. No show, no call, no text, wouldn't pick up for my calls or texts. I guess the Gods are just telling me I should keep it! Thinking about having the barrel sent out to be chopped to 16" and adding a Surefire 762 Warcomp and a Law Tactical folding stock adaptors. Think I'd rather do an ACSS 1-6x FFP LPVO this time around, the 3-18x50 FFP was a bit much. Would make a nice battle rifle setup with the 1-6x!
  7. The Holosun 507c would be a bit too bulky to fit into any of my Safariland or custom carry rigs. I'd have about 6 holsters I could not with that GLOCK. I may consider one for another handgun though. Where are you guys finding them for half the price for an RMR? The cheapest I Can find them for is about $299, the Trijicon RMR RM-06 Type 2 is $430, less if you score one on sale.
  8. The only reason I'm thinking of getting rid of it that I've got TOO many projects that are not complete. I need a tan EOTech Exps3/G33 for my Mk18 and an RMR for my GLOCK MOS and the girlfriend is bitching that I've got too many things going and they all need more money thrown at them! That and I don't really shoot long range. I shoot indoors mainly and 308 is kinda wasted on that!
  9. Part of me wants to put an A2 fixed stock on it like the original prototype COLT AR-10 that that Armalite builts for the trials that the KAC M110 won. That's the same extra gas block that I have too. I replaced it with the Badger Mk12/Mk18 gas block though, I like the low profile M110 look better.
  10. Honestly though, does it really need to be? You are not supposed to bridge the upper/rail anyway! I don't know what I wanna do at this point.
  11. We shall see! I had a couple of people inquire but I'll post it tonight if I don't hear back.
  12. I have no idea! I apparently asked too much. I just need a tan EOTech EXPS3/G33 and a Trijicon RM-06 to complete two other projects.
  13. The rail actually has a small spot of damage on it that you can't even see unless you are looking at it, hence not including it in the price. It's fully functional though so I said I'd throw it in free or pull it off.
  14. I don't know, maybe I'll send out the barrel and have it cut to 16" and toss on a Law Tactical folder and make it more compact like my SCAR 17S setup. I had a 3-18x50 FFP scope on it was HUGE and I really don't shoot long range. Could be fun with Vortex Razor HD II-e 1-6x24 on it for running steel plate but I also need an EOTech setup for an AR I just built and I also just picked up a new GLOCK 19 Gen5 MOS that needs a Trijicon RM-06, too man projects, not enough money!
  15. Yeah, it came with a factory Armalite quad rail that looks like a KAC rail. Unfortunately, I sold the factory rail and I'm finding out a lot of people WANTED the original rail. 😞 Currently set up like this, well I took the SOPMOD (dropped on the factory M4LE stock), scope mount and Bipod off and dropped the price to also not include any rail so whoever bought it can just track down the Armalite rail. Was even willing to pull the rail that's on it now so it's ready for the proper Armalite rail install, this one requires a special wrench. OH and I have the factory gas block too. What is the current value of something like this as mentioned above?
  16. Has everyone given up on the Armalite B pattern rifles? I don't shoot 308 much anymore so I'd been trying to sell one off and as soon as people find out it won't work with Magpul mags, they are no longer interested. I figured I'd have no issues selling one off to buy an EOTech EXPS3 setup and a Trijicon RMR setup for some other projects! Maybe I'm asking too much? What is a standard AR-10 B with a factory cerakoted 18" stainless target match barrel worth, basic setup?
  17. And...... This still hasn't actually been resolved completely, more like 75% or so! It's been a hell of a rollercoaster though. Been thinking about a 6.5CM upper for Coyote but I don't know if I want to stick with Armalite OR try something else.
  18. No but it's factory. I literally bought JUST the barrel to go on my existing Armalite AR-10. I reused my old A2 which was already dinged up. The barrel was factory new a few days ago. Yes I'm aware that "Stainless" will rust BUT this should not have gotten finish spots on it after getting damp. I own many AR's with Phosphate coated barrels, I hike with them in the rain, I shoot with them in the rain and I do not dry them off right away, they never rust on the finish like this or get corrosion. It's just bad prep work. Either way Armalite did acknowledge that this was a Phosphate barrel based on the picture and it should absolutely have been Cerakoted, they Cerekote in their custom shop. They are replacing it so I'm happy!
  19. I did not take any offense to it! No worries! I didn't mean to snap back either. I spoke with a local friend who is a machinist and he said the spots are not rust. He said the surface of the barrel was not prepped properly before it was phosphate coated and the contaminates leaked out the of metal pours when the barrel got heated up and the water caused them to corrode which in turn ruined the finish. We were able to clean it off with Hoppes and an oily rag but you can tell where the finish is damaged still. I also spoke with Armalite, they said I got the wrong barrel in the mail. It should have been stainless with Black Cerakote. They have 3 stainless barrels, all 18", the Target Match is raw SS or black Cerakote and this is just the plain black Phosphate one. They are sending me a replacement.
  20. I've never owned anything with Cerakote on it so I did not know but my speculation was that since Cerakote is basically painted and this was applied to the threads and gas block area too, it was probably not Cerakote. I honestly did not care about Cerakote, I just wanted black, not raw Stainless. If it was sold as SS w/ Phosphate coating, I would have still bought it. The issue is those spots that are appearing out of nowhere.
  21. Yeah, so I finally got my 18" SS Target Match barrel from Armalite. I paid the extra $25.00 for the black Cerakote finish. Was raining the day I went to the range. Guys from West Michigan Cerakote said it's not Cerakoted. I knew it when I saw it too, the gas block land and the barrel threads were all black too, the whole barrel was. The Cerakoted one listed online was cleared coated with the gas block land and the threads covered so the coating didn't mess with the clearances. This was like poorly phosphate coated or melonite coated. My DD Mk18 got wet too, never seen anything like this. Side note, was shooting MEN16 German ammo.
  22. I really want a Vortex Razor HD GEN II 3-18X50, I mean could technically afford it and I have access to a 30% discount, but damn, that is a lot of cash for a scope I won't use too often. I mean that thing costs what another nice rifle would cost! I could build another AR-10/15 with optics for what that scope costs on its own! My second pick it the Primary Arms 308 HUD DMR which is also a 3-18X50 FFP but only runs $500.00. I've also been looking at that Athlon scope you just linked as well as Nikon's. I had a Nikon P308 on another rifle but was never too impressed but I do know the M series is better. If the PA doesn't come in-stocks shortly, I might go with the Athlon.
  23. OK barrel came in from Armalite! All set! Side note, Danielle from Armalite informed me today on the phone they have EVERYTHING in-stock for both A and B pattern AR-10's, even receivers, just not posted online, you gotta call.
  24. Thank you sir! Poor mans KAC SR-25 or HK 417! ? The rifle itself is done. Now I just need to figure out what scope I want to put on it. I WANT to try out the Primary Arms ACSS 308 HUD DMR which is a 3-18x50 but they have only had one shipment come in from overseas and its been on pre-order since the beginning of the year. The second choice is a Viper PST Gen II 5-25x50 FFP which costs over twice as much. OH! Also would like an Atlas bipod. Side note for anyone looking, there is one of these rails, new in the box on Gunbroker.com right now. Not mine! It's the DPMS barrel nut pattern but if anyone snags it for an Armalite, Joe at Daniel Defense HAS Armalite barrel nuts for these, just no rails. I see like 3 WTB's in the Classifies right now with people looking for these rails!
  25. ArmaLite 18" Match-Grade Target barrel finally came! Barrel and gas block are in! I went with the 18" over the 20" since I decided to go SOPMOD stock instead of A2. ArmaLite advertises this barrel as being "Cerakoted" but it sure as hell looks like some of Melonite coating and it has some thin spots so I oiled the hell out of it. Is what it is I suppose! Offset the Surefire M600P while I had the rail off, also installed Knights Armament sights! Took the ACSS 1-6 off, looking for something else with more power now!
