Not changing the gas port, but changing the setting

I was watching a program on the Ruger SFAR 308, they were commenting on tweaking g the SFAR. But now I can't find the article. The were talking about changing the gas ports and changing the buffer. To tame the 308. Did anyone read the article or see the program. Ike to know about the buffer they changed to

Guess I should have said I'm from Florida. I had a armalite AR-10T. But the damn thing was too heavy.

Hi folks I'm new here. Retired disabled air force. Joined in 76, forced retired due to a fall.in 99. Had a armalite ar10t. But the think was heavy. I recently found a RRA Lar-8 carbine. Also picked up a Ruger SFAR 308. The SFAR is pretty lite. Hope to go shooting this week. See you on the range.

I have a rra lar-8 carbine. I want to change out the mid length hand guard. I can't find one that's 8 1/4. It looks as if I will need to change out the gas block for one that's lower, and find a free floating type. But I was informed the barrel nut it specific to the lar-8. Can anyone help me out here!
