Ohio Newbie...help me with my first 308 build

Okay I have been a member for a total of 24 hours,  need help already!!!  I would like for members to help me do my first build.  Some experience with AR but new to 308.  Would like to get help first; should I buy a complete gun or build..I prefer to build!    I would like your thoughts on whose parts and best place to get them.  Budget for project $1500 - $2000.  If I am missing someplace on the forum that discusses AR10 vs DPMS vs others...please just point newbie in right direction.

thanks for getting me started...I will do some research on Ma Ten.  My quick look at that said I was going to go way over budget, but I will take a better look.
