JGshooter
Thanks for all the replies on my first post. I have decided on an RRA 16" AR. I like the two stage trigger! BUT I am going to reload for this gun, and everyting ive read is saying 2.80 OAL, I also reload for .223 so I use Hodgen Varget powder. my question is is there anyone else reloding with Varget for this rifle, and is 2.80 working ok in this type of rifle??? <dontknow>
sellmarkguy
I have owned 2 RRA LAR-8s.Varget worked great in the 20" barrel.

sellmarkguy
Yes, just the standard 2.80 length. Where I get strict is with case length alone.I go between 2.00 and 2.15; no longer than this. A good measurement of case length is, do they fitin the magazine? Sounds a bit relative, but has been a good guide for me, nonetheless. If your bullets arecannelured, that makes it even easier. Just seat the bulletto the cannelure and you're done. (I dont crimp anymore)I start with a medium powder charge and work up from there. Since I have a 16" DPMS 308 now, I use a faster burning powder; like Hodg. H335.
