joe448
New build. I got a short carbine length ar10 buffer from Odin Works. The buffer length seems right but a standard 5.56 recoil spring will compress to solid and not allow the rubber bumper to hit the end of the carbine length buffer tube. A standard 5.56 carbine buffer is too long. Am I supposed to shorten the recoil spring? Why do they sell these short buffers without a matching spring? joe448
Thanks, you are right. I have one of those but I took it out because it seemed like it took a lot of finger strength to operate the charging handle. Now that I have looked at it more closely, I see that the Sprinco orange spring has fewer turns but they are more widely spaced. I will just have to live with the heavy charging handle force, or get an extended handle.
