earthquake Posted August 22, 2020 Report Posted August 22, 2020 I am thinking about trying to build a LR 10 in .300 Ruger, It is a magnum round for sure. I want to have a 24" barrel with a +3" gas tube and adjustable gas block, I will use a Tubb's flat wire recoil spring with a hydraulic buffer and probably a weight in the bolt. KAK makes a upper in .300 WSM but I want to use a case with out a belt. The Ruger case head is .530, I was going to use a KAK Magnum bolt in a std bolt carrier. the .300 Ruger is a pretty high pressure round [around 63,800 psi] it will shoot 180gn bullets at 3000fps. I am looking for some one to make a barrel, I want it to have a .050" gas port that I will open up a couple of thousands at a time until the bolt will lock back and then open it up another .005" and start tuning with the adjustable gas block, I am worried about the barrel diameter at the barrel extension being to small [1.200"] to handle the pressure. has any body seen or done this kind of build? Thanks for any help Earthquake
Matt.Cross Posted August 22, 2020 Report Posted August 22, 2020 I've combined a flat wound spring and hydraulic buffer. If your goal is to make a functional rifle into a paperweight, that combo works perfectly. I'd recommend a buffer + spring combo from Slash instead.
