Receiver Extension Compatibility

This is a backawards question from most on the forum, but can a factory DPMS 308 receiver extension, buffer and spring be used on a 5.56 rifle? Or will the buffer/spring be too heavy on that platform?

 

Thanks guys, looking to swap out a fixed stock for a collaspable and just curious if the parts can be used elsewhere.
