benjammin
Finally got my hands on an LR-308 after years of back and forth. I shoulda done this a long time ago. It is a fine rifle that I look forward to years of fun and challenge with.

benjammin
Glad to be here. I have been home about a year now, after traveling around the world, starting in Baghdad back in 2005. Would've liked to have had an LR-308 there, but had to make do. Shot some AK and almost got my hands on an FN-Fal until CID confiscated our supply and destroyed them.I started shooting local competition in late 2009 and had a gunsmith build an AR-15 using a Sharpes receiver and a Stag Arms stainless bull barrel and various other parts (we call it my Frankenstein AR). It is a pretty good shooter, and I am quite pleased with it. However, we have a lot of cross wind at our range, and sometimes the 223 just isn't enough. So I acquired my LR-308 that looks very similar with the stainless bull barrel configuration and will use it for the shots beyond 600 yards most of the time, or when the wind is particularly annoying. I am also getting an Oracle upper and will use that for 3 gun type competitions and maybe even to hunt with. I am a pretty big fellow, at 6'5" and about 265 lbs, so I feel well suited to the LR-308 platform. Hope to make the most of this forum.
