  1. Hello, new to the forum and building first 308 ar. I would like to hear any advice on how to make it the most accurate it can be. I will be reloading my own ammo so i am only interested on things i can do to the gun. I am pretty set on a Kreiger 20" 1:10 twist ss barrel, but am all ears for any thing else, as long as the length and twist are the same. Will be putting it in a MA-TEN Monolithic rifle length reciever with matching lower. Have also decided on JP's enhanced bolt, possibly in a dpms, fulton armory, or young bolt carrier. I am open to any and all information i can get for accuracy or reliability , as well as suggestions on what i should or shouldnt do. One question i have is do people bed the recievers together? I have some devcon leftover from some boltactions i have bedded and was wondering if it has been done befor and what the results were. Thanks in advance for any info.
  2. Great pic W_R_Ranch! I have another to show how fun Texas hog hunting is. Rock Grande Ranch in Val Verde county on the Rio Grand.
  3. Im sure they are there, I know they are here in west Texas, a little kid just got attacked by one a week or two ago about 70 miles from here in Big Bend State Park!
  4. I love all my guns, but when I sold my m1a to buy a savage 10 fcp, I vowed to replace it one day with another, or at least a semi auto 308. I love my savage, it shoots in the .1,.2, and .3's all day with reloads, but I feel I need a semi auto. I think I would be able to get a few more hogs before they make it into the brush with a semi auto vs. my bolt action. I have been hunting with my ar15 since i was 16 and have taken everything from whitetail to ringtail. With proper shot placement, it has dropped many big deer and hogs at up to 250 yards. It is deadly accurate and I just like the way it is built, but i have never been a big fan of the 223. Thus the 308AR seed was planted. It has been a few years now and the seed has become a tree that needs to be taken care of. Especially since I stumbled upon the mega recievers. It is only a matter of time before i have a complete rifle. I hope it is as accurate as my savage, or at least my ar15, because it will be used mainly on hogs at distances out to and beyond 700 yards. I hope it likes the 178 A-max as much as i do. Guess I will find out shortly.
  5. Hello from the west, fellow Texan. Cant really say welcome, as i am new here as well. I am building my first ar308 and the parts are about to start pouring in. Good luck with the hog hunting, that is one of the pourposes of mine also.

    AR Trigger

+1 for the jard. I was getting double taps in my ar15 untill I intentionally gave it a little creep and opted for a 3lb spring from the 1.5(will take the creep back out soon). No complaints other than it is a little time consuming adjusting everythin just how you like it, which is no big deal if you are a tinkerer like me. Been contemplating the RRA NM 2 stage for my MA-TEN build, What are the advantages of a 2 stage over a single stage trigger?
  7. Thanks, i sent him a pm.
  8. Hello all, new to this site, and fixing to build my first ar308. I have decided to start with the Mega MA-TEN reciever, unless anyone knows a better rout. If not, where is the best place to get them? I am not able to get on the internet much these days so havent had much time to look, but most of my searches come up out of stock. Any info will be greatly appreciated.
