Never used them. Any good?

Ya thats what I was thinking. But I think when I factor in the dead fall, pit traps, thermite, smoke grenades, and so on I should be able to push it out to 3 maybe 4 weeks. <thumbsup>

And by some I actually mean a lot. I bet all sorts of bells, alarms, and flashing red lights are going off in Washington right now lol. 20rds - 308 Winchester Razorback XT 150gr. BPPHP Ammo $35.95 100rds - 45 ACP Federal LE Tactical HST 230gr. +P HP Ammo P45HST1 $69.90 500rds - 22 LR Winchester Xpert 36gr. Lead Hollow Point Ammo XPERT22 $27.95 500rds - 22LR CCI Blazer 40gr. Solid Point Ammo 0021 $22.95 500rds - 45 ACP Independence 230gr. FMJ Ammo 5260 $154.95 400rds - .308 PMC Bronze 147gr. FMJ-BT Ammo PMC308B $269.90 400rds - 7.62 x 51 NATO Federal Lake City XM80C 149gr. FMJ Ammo XM80C $269.90 Total after shipping and insurance 976.14 Equates to just over 40 cents a round. I figured after stocking up to 3 Springfield 1911's, a 308 carbine, a 308 bolt action, and a Marlin .22 I needed something to shoot thru them. Now I have to decide on some shells for my Mossberg 500 Thunder Ranch.

Its actually quite easy. After I buy them I take them to the MP station and they look them over (I assume to make sure its not a knife shaped bomb or something like that). They then give me an approval cert that I turn in at the post office when I ship them. My biggest concern is some of the fit and finish looks kinda iffy. Its hard to tell if its because of production quality, age, or if its a knock off. The biggest issue is none of them have the original sheaths.

Hey folks I hope someone out there will have more info on this than I do. One of the Hajis here on the FOB has some OLD bayonets for same. They look like the 1907 Wilkinson Enfield (google an image) but at the base of the blade is a small crown stamp (from what I gather it was a British proof mark kind of thing) along with the word ENFIELD and 1861 on one and 1863 on the other. Hes asking 160 for both. They do not have the original sheath but both blades look old as crap (thinking these could be left overs from when the Brits invaded). Im not up on these enough to know if they are legit or not. Any one know more of what to look for?

If no one gets to it Ill be back in the world in Aug. I MIGHT be able to talk a friend of mine into lending me use of some of her land for a test. It would be in a POF P308 w/ a 20" barrel machined at a 1:10 right hand twist.

Sorry for the delay in my reply. Work and weather here in the 'stan has kept me busy. Ive been using Cabelas.com. Its easy, secure, and if I have an issue I can go into my local Cabelas and talk to someone. Ive not actually gone in to see if its a normal stock item. With it being a hand load round I doubt that it is.

I use Black Hills Gold 180g NAB.

I looked and found nothing. Hope its not a re post. http://strikemark.com/products/basic-gopro-gun-mount-free-us-shipping/ I bought one myself but it did not come in to make my hunt. Ill try it when I go home. Very solid and secure mount. They have a few different mount options including one for the pistol.

Here we are. NOTE~~~As I have been quickly scanning posts it has occurred to me that I may have inadvertently misrepresented myself. I am over here in the 'stan as a civilian. I did wear the uniform but I hung it up many years ago. I apologize for the confusion. I assure you it was not intentional.

Edge Your right I am in Afghanistan currently. However I was back in the world when I went hunting. Terry I went to High Adventure Ranch in Missouri.

I went after russian hogs about an month ago with my 308. 2 shots 2 kills. One was center mass (looked like a bomb went off) and the other cut the spine in half. When looking at caliber one must also consider the energy imparted by the round as well as weight retention.

If you use Stone Bender the owners name is Lem. Tell him James sent you.

Honestly Im not too sure if this is the right place for this or not but here goes.. If any south Texas folks (San Antonio/Houston/Austin) are in need of a FFL for shipping Id suggest Stone Bender Guns www.stonebenderguns.com . I used him when I bought my POF. If this is in the wrong spot or its a forbidden action please let me know.

What made you decide to move to the 308 AR/AR-10 Platform?
Vlad308 replied to imschur's topic in General Discussion
Liked my M16 but I wanted something with more reach and more punch. Got punch with my first weapon (Springfield Armory 1911 .45ACP) but still needed the reach out and show some lead love ability. Did some looking and a lot of question asking and in the end I bought my POF 308. And thus far I could not be happier. -
Does this apply to prior service as well?

Wow sweet deal. Thx much man. Ill have to spread the word to my shooter friends back home.

Last I head there was a push to get that Garland range closed down. Im not really sure why. I went to Target Masters in Garland. Very nice place. Not too expensive either. Only big draw back is the rifle range is only 50 yards. As for the Bullet Trap....dont wast your time or money. The range is kinda run down. Its expensive. And Ive heard of a few people getting lest than stellar customer service. Ive never had any issues in the dozen or so times I went but it really wouldnt surprise me. Sadly I live (when Im back in the world) in the Frisco/Little Elm area. Once upon a time there was a range up on hwy 380 but its been closed some 8 years or so.

Wow....thats about the most humorous hunting related video Ive ever seen.

And here I come adding a +1 to that number. Never owned anything larger than my 1911 45ACP till about a month ago. I went and bought a Patriot Ordnance Factory .308 and attached a Burris Eliminator scope. I went hunting with it 2 weeks ago in Missouri after Russian Boar with another Vet friend of mine. We both walked away with one kill each both close to 290 lbs. One shot-one kill. Im amazed at the accuracy and how little recoil it had. When I get time Ill get pics up but its tough to do as Im back in the 'stan right now.

Went to Google and typed in ".308 rifles".
