Yea, I bought a 550, tons of peripherals, various powder, primers and bullets for it years ago. Never set it up. I never made space on my bench and never wanted to take the time to roll my own. Been saving brass for years tho. I have a few sealed 5 gal buckets of .223, .308 and 30-06. I'll probably make space for it when I set up the new shop in the house we just moved into.

1) I would never special order a rifle from RRA again. That wait time was ridiculous but understandable considering the panic. Or was it? 522 days? Come on !!! Panic is long over!!! I WOULD buy the product off the shelf however. I had to send it back twice for some buggy little issues and they were IMMEDIATE and accommodating via of their Svc Dept. 2) Moses is a very well established contributor and gunsmith known on the FAL Files with an excellent reputation. Although I’ve never dealt with him his feedback is unmatched. He has recently ventured into producing some peripherals like FAL mags. The surplus FAL mags I’ve tried in my LAR8-EO are almost totally unreliable. I picked up some Thermolds for it at a great price but I know they need a little grinding/fitting and I have not tried that yet (hassle factor?). So if Moses is going to make some version for the LAR8s (not a stretch from FAL mags) I’m sure they will be just fine. 3) In fact; how do I get on a list to be notified Moses? Not much traffic on this particular forum. There's an LAR8 board on ARF. Might make yerself known there as well.

Got the rifle back beggining of the week. The reemed and polished the chamber, replaced the extractor. EXCELLENT prompt service. We'll see how it does next time out to the range. BTW They have no problem with any specific milsurp by name but do warn against corrosive ammo and reloads.

Just realised I never updated. FYI - I sent mine back and got a new trigger group and now it feels like a dream. Less than two-week turnaround. Roughed it in wearing a 4x ACOG and was slapping 16" steel at 300 yds no problem. Unfortunaltey it's just gone back to RR again under warranty due to tight chamber (?) Discussed here if anyones interested . . .

Already been called. It's going back next week. Will advise on return and will definitely ask about turn around time. Meanwhile . . . anyone know who does refurb work on Russian PU Scopes? Oops. Guess that's a topic for another forum. :-(

Oh I got it. Preciate it. Some people are reccomending I polish the chamber or pull the barrel and have it worked on, etc. I imagine THAT would certainly be a warranty voiding action.

With all due respect Washguy I have read all posts (that's why I ask questions). I was simply reaffirming that I have never had any problems with this ammo in other well made firearms. Now I know certain ammo can be finicky for certain rifles. 1950s 8mm Yugo is a no-go in my semi autos due to hard primers and old Turkish 8mm is hot loaded (for semi autos) and the brass is weak. Many ripped rims with that before I realised it's bolt gun ammo only. RR is well aware of the ammo I was using and have no problem with it. From what I have learned here and elsewhere the evidence of the abrasion on the brass and at least one ripped rim the chamber is somehow tight&rough and holding on to the spent brass a bit too tight for normal extraction. RR is concerned and want it back right away.
