    Maryland Ranges?

Yep I hear ya, looks like I may join an Isaac Walton League or go up to Frederick. There is also a range in Timonium, Md. that is indoor and reasonable. If and when I do all this, I'll write a follow up. thanks for the reply.
  3. Any Maryland shooters on here? I am looking for a place to go to shoot, that doesn't cost an arm and leg, e.g. the place in Rockville! We have Isaac Walton Leagues here but they are individual clubs and you cannot join one and use another :( Montgomery County is worse than Marin County California for tree huggers.... any help would be great, CSM-H
  4. Sorry I didn't come back sooner...yep it's a lot of fun and it was packed....so soon after the Colorado shooting lot's of folks looking for gun and ammo, before, well you know.. :)
  5. Hey to all, another big gun show here in the Nations Capitol. They have them about every two months, should be interesting how many folks will be there as the shooting that just happened in Colorado. After the VA Tech shooting the place was packed. Obama thinks we all have AK's so maybe the rest of the weapons will be safe.....Anyone from the site gonna be there?
  6. OK, once again the old guy screwed up...The gun show is next weekend!! 8-10 June... That's actually better for me, now I can plan my attack and save more money in anticipation... :)
  7. Hey to all, off to the gun show tomorrow, gotta go drule on who knows what, I can buy ammo, rifle/shotgun but no pistols as VA and MD don't play well with each other......But I still gotta go. CSM-H
  8. Got this off of "RifleGear"...seems to answer the question of lining or not....just thought I'd jump in... :) CSM-H The unique Melonite treatment applied to the barrel surface-hardens the metal, extending barrel service life by reducing friction in the bore and lessening bore surface wear. Also referred to as Nitriding, this treatment produces an extremely hard, slick surface on steel that resists carbon adhesion and increases corrosion resistance, making for easier cleaning and maintenance. Nitriding converts the steel's surface without any build-up, retaining all of the benefits of traditional chrome lining without suffering the accuracy degradation commonly encountered due to uneven application of chrome inside the barrel's bore.
  9. Sorry about the link it worked on the other site...thanks Robocop for squaring away the old guy.. :) CSM-H
  10. Hey to all, I am not up to speed on all the stuff you guys are doing but I read this on anothr thread and thought it might be interesting to read here, if not already discussd. Forgive me if this is an old subject.... CSM-H "Berger has designed and tested a new 308 bullet that will pass through the transonic zone without being upset. It is not yet listed on their website but is in the production line. Bryan Litz, the ballistician for Berger has loaded ammo listed for sale on his website. It may have some interesting applications for the military in terms of extending the range of the 308 sniper rifles". Here is the link http://www.appliedballisticsllc.com/Munitions/ABMTactical.html **I think I fixed it. -Robocop1051
  11. Edgecrusher, Robocop is a heck of a shooter...but his wife is just plain evil..... :)
  12. Hey to all, New to board and I am the "uncle" mentioned in this story. I too own a 10/22 but didn't have it with me because of travel.... anyway I have been shootin' for a long time approx 40 years plus and really started with Robo's Dad. shooting as a teenager and then 28 years in the military NEVER had a rifle or pistol "explode" like this, let alone TWO about 10 minutes apart....The first one (10/22) we thought might be from a new magazine mis-aligned etc..NOT, picked up the 77/22 and even a bigger boom!! that got a resounding WTF! anyway all is ok, ears have gone back to normal ringing (too many jumps) and the guns have been shipped off to Winchester and we are hoping that they own up to THEIR responsibility. I have already posted this story on Professionalsoldiers.com and SOCNET.com, if they choose to be non responsive you can bet small dollars I will spread this story to a whole bunch of my special little friends who shoot a lot and maybe make a dent in their business... :) Thanks for all the well wishes, what a way to be a new member.. CSM-H

Just wanted to say hello to all here on 308AR.com, I was invited by a very close "family" member here in good standing (promise not to embarrass him :) and hopefully can learn some new things from your site. I am retired military but have been out for a while, always looking for new stuff and advice as needed. regards, CSM-H
