Thanks guys, hopefully in the next few weeks I can get the barrel broken in and I can see what kind of groups I can get out of it.

I'm over in Gulfport, MS and I'm hoping it just fizzles out before it gets here. I'm not going to get excited about it until it gets closer. All though, I will fill up my generator and gas can just incase.

Now just waiting on the buffer and spring, MBUS, and magazines... I'll probably hunt with it some this year with just the iron sights. I guess I need to start saving up for a leupold mark IV amd a can... First I need to make the wife happy though ???

Alright, Clint is taking care of me. Now here's a question before I get the CAR buffer. Should I go ahead and get the XH buffer? I plan to one day have a suppressor and I know he says to use that buffer when shooting suppressed.

I'm starting to get anxious to start breaking this thing in, so anxious that I'm not waiting to get paid to order stuff . I cancelled my original order this morning for the UBR and re-ordered it. I also ordered the muzzle device and go/no go gauges and already checked the headspace using them. Now I'm waiting on Clint to email me back about my buffer situation. It was my mistake and I ordered the wrong buffer. So after I get the stock and a new buffer/spring I should be ready to shoot it. I'll be ordering p-mags for it this weekend, if I can't find any at the local gun show. So now I need: Magazines Already ordered/have: MATEN reciever set (have) 18" ultramatch barrel (have) UBR stock (re-ordered) MIAD grip (have) TRX rail (have) gas tube (have) gas block (have) chrome BCG (have) B.A.D.A.S.S. I'm going to check and see if Clint will just swap it out for a CAR-10 XH, if he won't I'll let you know.

I just looked, mine is the rifle length buffer... :-[ I already sent Clint an email, now I'm wondering if he'll swap out the rifle length XH buffer and spring for the CAR-10 XH buffer and spring. I guess I'll find out...

Just an update, I got off the phone with magpul and they said that they know for sure the CAR-10 buffer will work with the UBR, but they are unsure on the XH buffer. I tried calling Clint at heavybuffers, but no one answered... I guess I'll try leaving him an email

I am about to replace my order for my UBR and read that "7.62x51 ARs may require the use of a custom short buffer and spring". I already have my extra heavy buffer and now I'm wondering if I can even use the UBR with it? The buffer measure's about 5 3/16" long and I don't know how long the UBR buffer tube is. Anyone know if the 2 will work together?

That's what I was figuring. Anyone have one that I can borrow? I'll pay shipping. Also I just got off the phone with AAC and the brakeout muzzle compensator I bought from them is on brack order for 30-45 days, is it safe to shoot this thing without a muzzle device on it?

Should I check the headspace on this thing? Just wondering, b/c when I put the barrel nut on I set my torque wrench to 40 ftlbs and torqued it. Well one of the notches in the nut was covering up the gas tube hole and I had to put a fair amount of force on the nut to keep it going so I could get the gas tube lined up. Not sure what the torque ended up being. If I should, does anyone have a suggestion on go/no go gauges or a headspace gauge?

Payday is the 25th, so if it's not here I'm ordering from somewhere else. I'll probably go with one of the sites already posted in this thread. Also on the 25th there is a gun show locally, so I'll prbably be bring home a stripped lower for the 300 blk... <thumbsup>

Yea, I really like the TRX. I have Troy's MRF on my 5.56 gun and the TRX feels way better in your hand. But I don't have any rail covers on the MRF. I ordered the brakeout comp from AAC this weekend, but still haven't gotten an email with any shipping notice... The same thing with the few parts I need to finish the lower. I ordered them from RRA and have no confirmation on shipping. And if I don't have my UBR in my hands by the 25th I'm calling Botach and cancelling my order. I ordered it on the 17th, then a few days later got an email saying it was on back order with no ETA. Called last week and they said they are on order, but don't know when they will receive them.

Well, this will be rifle number 3 that I will have built this year. First was a 10/22 with a parts list that goes like this: Tactical Innovations receiver Tactical Solutions barrel Kidd bolt Kidd single stage 1.5lb trigger Kidd charging handle Bell & Carlson target/varmint stock in olive w/ black web (been waiting 7 weeks for this thing...) Then the .308 from here http://308ar.com/forum/index.php?topic=3904.0 and now this one, that I've been told needs to be done before hunting season... After I build the 300 blk I think I'm going to lay off on building them and do some fine tuning, like glass bedding the 10/22 and getting into reloading.

This one is actually "for" the wife, so I don't have to worry about her killing me over it. Also, I intentionally left the .308 out on my bench today (that she walks by at least 4 times a day) to see if she notices it. If all goes as planned, in a few months when she asks where it came from I'll just tell her, "that old thing? I've had that for awhile..."

My build is not complete, but I have noticed with the BCG in the upper like it would have a round chambered in the barrel it's real stiff coming out. I think my issue might be the gas rings on the bolt in the BCG, I hope it's just a tight fit that needs to be fired to loosen up. With my 5.56 gun (and every M4/M16 i've messed with) the bolt slides free in the BCG, but with my .308 bolt, I have to grab it and pull it out of the BCG. Sorry I'm not much more help. I hope someone knows since I kinda have the same issue. Does your bolt slide in your BCG free? With the BCG out of the upper can you hold the end of the BCG with the bolt pushed into the BCG and not in your hand can you flick your wrist and have the bolt come out?

The funny thing is she wants to get into hunting, and asked when I was going to build her a AR for hunting. So I'm starting to gather parts for a 300 blackout also...

I'm using a rainier arms 18" ultra match.

When I finally get everything together and get the MA-TEN together is there a particular barrel break in procedure anyone recommends? I've asked others what their opinion was and most say to just shoot it. Others I talk to have given specific instructions on their barrel break in procedures... What are yalls onpinions on this?

I've read that the barrel nut that comes with the TRX uses a standard AR-15 armorers wrench. I just want to make sure before I get one and it end up being the wrong one. http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=5557/Product/AR-15-MULTI-TOOL Is there a different tool anyone would suggest? I read the reviews and they're not so hot, and one of my buddies had this tool and had the same issues as the other guys that wrote reviews.

This is what I did. Took some real fine sand paper and polished the inside of the gas block until it fit. It was still tight enough that I had to lightly tap it on with the handle of a screwdriver. I hope it doesn't have to come off for any reason in the future...
