  1. UPDATE: I emailed CMMG inquiring about the supposed .308 uppers they will be offering and here are the actual emails. My email question: "I've read [online] in a few forums that you folks are going to be producing/selling .308/7.62x51 uppers in the near future; is that true and [if so] when will that be?" _______________________________________________________________________________ CMMG reply: "Yes, that's correct. We are planning to have those available around the beginning of the year". Thank you, Angela Shannon CMMG, Inc PO Box 369 Fayette, MO 65248 (660)248-2293 (660)248-2290 (FAX) www.cmmginc.com ________________________________________________________________________________ Then a few hours later I got another reply from Angela @ CMMG: "When I replied to your email earlier today, that was the last I had heard. Later today I received an update and it seems that the .308 is now low priority and I do not have an eta". Best regards, Angela Shannon CMMG, Inc PO Box 369 Fayette, MO 65248 (660)248-2293 (660)248-2290 (FAX) www.cmmginc.com ______________________________________________________________________________ So it would actually appear that CMMG is not in a big hurry to do a .308 line, if at all........
  2. The best thing that the military has done with the M4 is introduce the new "M262" round, which has greatly improved the short and long range "killability" of the platform; the round has been highly praised by the soldiers who have used it. I seriously doubt that [with this new round] the military is going to go through all the trouble and expense to adopt a completely different caliber round or rifle any time in the near future. I have these [M262] rounds, have tried them and they really are quite a step up from the "SS109" in use now, though the "SS109" still has it's place in the arsenal. I have also tried the "Privi Partizan" 75, grain .223, "OTM" rounds which closely mimmic the "M262", and I recommend them highly. The smartest thing the military could do is issue AR-308's to chosen soldiers in squads to cover the "higher power" needs of battles which arise, as that is a quick and inexpensive solution to those times when 5.56 doesn't "hit the spot".
  3. I have formed a rather bad opinion of Remington since they released their crappy "R-1" 1911. I've seen about 20 if them for sale since they came out and everyone of them has that lousy, ill-fit grip safety with the "ledge" sticking out at the top of the grip. I have disassembled/inspected several of them and I don't see any reason to buy one of these "R-1's" over a lower price Rock Island, American Classic or most of the other lower priced 1911's. They also made them with WWII style safeties and slide stops which I'm sure they bought by the ton and then slapped together a bunch of parts, then put their name on it. Also the finish is marginal, and there are several other manufacturers who put together a much better pistol for a few hundred less dollars too. The R-1 is a "hack job" 1911; Remington's attempt to make a profit on an overpriced pistol without putting the quality into it that they should. They are trading on their name and it has been embarrassed with this "ham handed" foray into the 1911 market. I don't know about their rifles, but because of the "R-1" I will never buy a Remington "anything" again.
  4. I got a bunch of this M61 Armor Piercing ammo for only $.58 per round and this is the military stuff too. I have never shot this type so I'm going to go out and blast some steel with it.
  5. It looks good but I would never buy an AR308 upper that doesn't have a forward assist.
  6. I think the CMMG stuff is really good and even as good as the other companies that sell AR items at much higher prices. I have a number of their AR offerings and I will certainly buy .308 items from them as soon as they become available. CMMG AR15
  7. I just received my shipment of "British Radway Green NATO .308 147grn FMJ" from AIM Surplus. It is 1994 manufacture and just about the best surplus ammo that can be had. The rounds are spotless and as shiny as the day they were loaded and 750 rounds with shipping cost only $382.21 [$.51 per round]. These rounds are true NATO spec and work great in the AR platform [and] I have read that they work well in other rifles, fire clean and are very accurate. Yes they are Berdan primed, but I don't reload, so this is about the best deal for high quality ammo out there. AIM Surplus also has Magpul 20 round .308 mags for $18.95 each with free shipping, and they work great too. http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx? ... groupid=26 /
  8. Where's the photo?
  9. Here's my DPMS Panther Arms AP4 I just got it at a local pawnshop for $750 out the door. It's in "like new" condition and has a Magpul MOE stock, CAA G-27 grip, DPMS removable front/rear sights and a Phantom flash compensator. I ordered 5 Magpul 20 round mags and several hundred rounds of ammo from AIM Surplus that I will get in a few days, so I'll be blasting away shortly. I won't put a scope on it as I like it more for a close quarters weapon, and I'm a pretty fair shot with iron sights if I need to reach out a little farther. I might put a recoil compensator on it but I'm going to wait until after I fire it to decide if I really need one; I probably won't.
