Bolt lockback issue
Bfalcon00 replied to Bfalcon00's topic in DPMS LR-308 General, Technical Discussion
I got the proper clearance on the bolt about 1/8 inch so thats not it. I didnt think about the gas block not being seated right ill check that and get back to ya. The barrel does have a shoulder for the gas block to seat against and i guess i just assumed it would fit exact. When i turn the adjustable gas block all the way down the bolt doenst cycle and the rifle functions as a single shot rifle. The only other thing i can think of is when i installed the gas block, the gas block adjustment screw would not quite clear the gas tube, so i took a file to it and took of a little material.... -
Bolt lockback issue
Bfalcon00 replied to Bfalcon00's topic in DPMS LR-308 General, Technical Discussion
Im certain the buffer and spring is for a 308 swapped out with my other 308 to be sure. I turned the gas block for off all the way to full open just to be sure used 1/4 turns each adjustment. The bolt cycles just fine and will load ammo from the mag it just wont lock back after the last round. -
I have a DPMS upper and lower mated to a Fulton Armory 20 inch barrel with a rifle gas system. I was having some trouble with it being over gassed and the bolt slamming so i installed a JP railed adjustable gas block. That cleared everything up and the rifle runs just fine except the bolt will not lock back after the last round is fired. The bolt will lock back just fine if you use an empty mag and the charging handle to cycle the bolt. Im guessing the bolt is just cycling too fast but I dont really know. Any ideas? Oh and the bolt catch is a phase 5 battery assist, but the problem doesnt go away if you install a normal bolt catch.

Adjustable flow AR-15, gas tube
Bfalcon00 replied to Rangedog's topic in AR-10 General, Technical Discussion
Ok are AR10 and DPMS styles use different gas tube lengths or is a rifle length gas tube the same arcoss the board? -
Adjustable flow AR-15, gas tube
Bfalcon00 replied to Rangedog's topic in AR-10 General, Technical Discussion
Any updates on that adjustable gas tube? I have a rifle length build that is overgassed and was thinking of going this way instead of buying another gas block. I guess my question is would you buy again? -
I purchased a DPMS carbon fiber FFT which has to be epoxyed to the barrel nut. My question is how to remove it and save the FFT if you want to swap barrels for example? The FFT totally covers the holes in the barrel nut where you use the special wrench to tighten the barrel nut. Any ideas?

.308 AR Free Float Tubes, Hand Guards, Quadrails
Bfalcon00 replied to imschur's topic in .308AR Parts
Yeah I thought about the strap wrench that could work. Didnt think about heat although it wouldn't take much heat to ruin the FFT too. I'll keep asking around someone surely has had this problem before. -

Ok so I ordered a DPMS carbon fiber FFT and somehow missed the fact that you have to epoxy the FFT to the barrel nut. It's not really a problem, but my question is what happens if you need to remove it to change a barrel, ect? Do you trash the FFT in the process? -
Ah good to see some fellow buckeyes lol. Grew up around the Lima area and loved every minute of it.

Found this today and thought I would share with the rest of the class. The header called it the "30 truths of life" 1. The more helpless you are, the safer you are from criminals. 2. An intruder will be incapacitated by tear gas or oven spray, but if shot with a handgun will get angry and kill you. 3. A woman raped and strangled is morally superior to a woman with a smoking gun and the dead rapist at her feet. 4. When confronted by violent criminals, you should “put up no defense, give them what they want, or run.” 5. One should consult an automotive engineer for safer seat belts, a civil engineer for a better bridge, a computer programmer for hard drive problems, and Sarah Brady for firearms expertise. 6. The 2nd Amendment, ratified in 1787, refers to the National Guard, which was created 130 years later, in 1917. 7. The National Guard, which is federally funded, has bases on federal land, uses federally owned weapons and equipment, and punishes trespassers under federal law, is a ‘State’ militia. 8. All of the Constitutional references to “the people” refer to the individual, except ‘the right of the people to keep and bear arms’ which refers to the state. 9. Rifles and handguns aren’t necessary to the national defense, which is why the U.S. military has millions of them. 10. We must get rid of guns because a deranged lunatic may go on a shooting spree at any time and anyone who would own a gun out of fear of such a lunatic is paranoid. 11. Private citizens shouldn’t have handguns because they are not ‘military weapons,’ and private citizens shouldn’t have ‘assault weapons’ because they are military weapons. 12. Despite waiting periods, background checks, fingerprinting, government forms, etc., guns today are too readily available, which is why we have school shootings. In the ‘40s, ‘50s and ‘60s, one could buy a gun at any hardware store, through mail order, gas stations, Sears, etc. with no waiting whatsoever, no background checks, no government forms, and there were no school shootings. 13. Guns are so complex that highly specialized training is necessary in order for them to useful in self defense, but so simple that they make murder and use by any criminal easy. 14. A handgun, some of which have up to 4 controls, is far too complex for the average adult to use effectively, as opposed to a car that has only about 20 controls. 15. Women are just as intelligent and capable as men, but a woman with a gun is an ‘accident waiting to happen,’ and ads aimed at women are ‘preying on their fears.’ 16. Ordinary people in the presence of guns turn into slaughtering butchers, but are normal outside of the presence of a gun. 17. Guns cause violence, which is why there are so many mass shootings at gun shows. 18. Most people can’t be trusted, so we should have laws against guns, which all criminals will abide by because they can be trusted. 19. The ACLU is good because it uncompromisingly defends certain parts of the Constitution, but the NRA is bad because it uncompromisingly defends certain parts of the Constitution. 20. Police carry a gun at their side at all times and backup is just a radio call away, which is why they need high capacity pistol magazines, but private citizens who must face criminals alone do not need high capacity mags. 21. We should ban ‘Saturday night specials’ and other inexpensive handguns because it isn’t fair that poor people also have access to self defense guns. 22. Private citizens don’t need guns because the police are there to protect them, even though the Supreme Court has ruled that the police are ultimately not responsible for the protection of any individual private citizen. 23. Citizens don’t need to carry a gun for personal protection, but police chiefs, who are desk-bound administrators working in a building full of cops, need a gun. 24. ‘Assault weapons’ have no purpose other than to kill large numbers of people, which is why you don’t need them but the police do. 25. Mandatory use of trigger locks would not interfere with the ability to use a gun for defensive purposes, which is why you see police officers with trigger locks on their side arms. 26. The antis want to keep guns out of the wrong hands, and you have the wrong hands. 27. Ballistic fingerprinting works so well that not one crime has been solved with the tens of thousands of ballistic fingerprints in Maryland’s database. 28. Rosie O’Donnell and Ted Kennedy don’t think guns are necessary for self defense, which is why their personal bodyguards carry guns. 29. Sen. Diane Feinstein (D-California) insists that concealed carry permits are not useful in defending oneself, which is why she has one. 30. Guns cause crime, just like matches cause arson and spoons made Rosie O’Donnell fat.

I couldn't agree more Matt. Although sometimes I wonder if its a fear thing that drives the gun control group. Makes me wonder if a majority have never held a firearm and only know, or think they know, what Hollywood shows them. If ya think of Arnold blazing away Terminator style things like assault weapon ban make more "sense".

I was clicking around on the internet today and came across an ad for usaammo.com. They seem to have reasonable prices and shipping costs are acceptable. Has anyone had any experience with them? I seem to remember hearing horror stories about sites like this from someone. Thoughts?

My concern was returning to zero after taking the scope on a off a couple times. It would be a great concept for cleaning, ect. if the scope returns to zero when you put it back on.
