  1. After some dremel work it fits like a glove now. I had to take a decent amount off to get a square fit and not putting too much pressure on the interchangeable backstrap. At frist it was putting lots of force on the backstrap causing it to seperate from the grip just a tad. When I backed the grip screw out it went back to proper fit. So with a half-inch sanding wheel I just took a little off the wedge at a time and kept test fitting. It took 4-5 tries to get it right. It was a $4 piece so I wouldn't have felt bad buggering it up, as opposed to trying to make the grip fit the wedge (a $35 part). So if anyone else gets one and it's a "off" fit.. just take your time a do a bit of grinding and fitting and you'll be all set. Simple job. And just to clear up any confusion, this was on an actual factory Armalite AR-10 lower (not a DPMS 308AR, RRA-LAR or Ar-15). Can't believe my lower is that far out of Magpul's spec on these.
  2. I just got one of these for my Armalite AR-10 lower build. Tried it tonight and it is way to big with the #3 backstrap. It tilts the grip so it's not square with the receiver. Has anyone tried one and found the same issue? I may try modifying it tomorrow with the ol'dremel.
  3. What is "Free Stuff Friday" ?
  4. I put one on my .223AR and DAMN!!! I personally don't like the rear blast I'm getting (feel in my face) and the concussion. I put an AAC Blackout (3 port brake/flash hider) on my .308 bolt and like it MUCH better. I'll be getting an AAC for my .223 soon.
  5. Actually I think it is the thread just below this one titled "What I did to my Bushmaster .308 ORC"
  6. What I was refering to a quote on one of the ORC build threads here where it was posted that "the gas tube rides ABOVE the barrel nut teeth". I didn't fully understand the ramifications of that and how/if it would effect installing a FF handguard. Not knowing all the differences in all the 308 AR makes/models, I wanted to verify that Bushmasters new offerings in this relm hindered compatibility with DPMS parts. Thanks, Hawk
  7. I've read about the gas tube riding different than on most 308AR platforms so just wanted to understand if this would be an issue if a free float handguard was to be used?
  8. So it looks great.. but how is it shooting? Inquiring minds want to know. :-)
  9. I've got time before I decide if I want to buy or build, but the major differences between the Armalite platform rifles, RRA platform rifles and the DPMS/Mega platform rifles is the ability for the DPMS/Mega to take the reliable Magpul magazines where the Armalite use there mags and RRA use the FAL mags. Was the magazines you could use a major factor in the platform you choose? I know there has been issues with mags feeding in the past, but with the boom of the 308 semi platforms, have pretty much all the bugs been worked out of all the available platforms when it comes to magazine issues and feeding? Thanks, Hawk
  10. For sub $1000 I think DPMS is the only game in town. If you are willing to step up over the 1K price range you also have Armalite and RRA. It's really going to come down to the purpose of the rifle you need and the setup you want.
  11. Hi everyone, Searched though the threads and didn't see anything on the LR260. I'm thinking about getting one and just wanted to get some feedback if anyone else had one. I reload for both .260 and .308 among others so ammo isn't an issue. Any issues related specifically to the LR260 vs the LR308? I'll probably end up getting a .308 upper in the future or build one. Maybe this is not just related to the .260 but are the DPMS's hard on brass as far as dents from ejection or from extraction? Thanks, Hawk
  12. Great looking setup. It's begging for a $3000 optic ;D
  13. Hi everyone, Been shooting for years and belong to many other fourms. Am becoming more and more interested in building/buying an AR10 so thought I could pick-up some good information here. Cheers, John
