  6. Toughest woman I ever knew got it in the early 90s, fought it, beat it, and lived on to die of old age earlier this year. She was a textbook example of strength, positive outlook, and faith. She made it look easy. My prayer is that it is easy for you to get through as she made it look.
  7. I'm not the only one up here now? Jester
  8. I read a post by Slash stating that some 308 carbine buffers were just cut down .223/5.56 with a weight removed. Thus being lighter for a more powerful round. He went on to say that some rifles had experienced broken extractors as a result. This sounded good to me but what do I know? I did a little more looking on Fulton Armory's website and they sell 308CAR buffers and springs. Their's was a little more than the 3 I mentioned previously. I figure their buffer is a good match for their barrel that's on it's way. I called FA to ask a few questions. They said they have no extractor issues with their rifles and that their buffer is the correct weight and made for a .308 cartridge. I'm sure the Slash buffer is great but for the cost delta I feel it makes sense to go with the buffer from FA. I'm forecasting being about a month from firing my build so time will tell. Literally. 9. I couldn't remember who it was. I've been taking 308AR from the interweb in large doses lately. Back to the buffers. I'm a believer in buy once cry once but even the higher price on the SOG is still way under Slash's. Has anyone here had any problems with what I'll call an OEM buffer that was corrected but a Slash buffer or other premium buffer? Jester
  10. Just got a box full of parts that will become a complete rifle at some point in the near future! Still have a few components to get yet. I'm wondering about a buffer and spring. Tactical Machining, POF, and DPMS from MidwayUSA are all $25 & $5 respectively. There is a member on another AR board that is very respected that makes heavier buffers for a 308 carbine. His are much more expensive. I don't mind paying for quality but I can buy each of the buffers above and still have enough left over for a box of ammo for what I could buy one of the other one for. Being that my receivers and BCG are all DPMS I'm thinking I'll get the DPMS buffer and spring from Midway. Any good bad or ugly feedback? Jester
  11. I'll check in with Branson1369 to see what he has going on. I think as far as an off the shelf tube I'm down to Fulton and SI. I like the profile of the SI over the Fulton but I know I can't go wrong with Fulton. I'm really thinking that since I'm just a suburban commando that I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between either. I know Fulton is good stuff. Not to be negative but, is there anything bad to know about SI? Thanks Jester
  12. That Rainier is nice. I'm assuming since it says DPMS but only has an Armalite selection that a DPMS version is available. I was leaning towards a mid length but was hoping to come in closer to $300 than $400. Very nice tube that I hadn't considered but it's on the list now. Thanks Jester
  13. So my 308 quest started when I heard about a rifle on sale around Thanksgiving that I could change a thing or 2 on to make what I wanted. That has progressed to having about half of a rifle in parts inbound via Big Brown Truck. I now have major tiredhead trying to select a barrel. Supposed to be simple since I'm building right? I am now asking for help with this process. I am looking for an 18" heavy or HBAR profile, not a bull/varmint. I'm kinda narrowed down to SI Defense or Fulton. The DPMS SASS at JSE would be an option as well but they are out of stock. The SI looks and sounds nice but Fulton has been around for a while and I've never heard anything bad about them. Please help me! Thanks Jester
  14. Am I the only Texan up in the Dallas area?
  15. Howdy! Where ya'll from?
  16. JSE is now showing to be out of stock and my full order amount has been charged. I'm hoping that means I get one and my full order is coming. Jester
  17. Greetings from the Lone Star State on the week our Declaration of Independence! I've been lurking for a little while but decided to register so I can formally ask a bunch of really dumb questions. Don't have a .308 rifle yet but have a majority of parts inbound currently. Still up in the air on a couple of items. So far this site has been very helpful and look forward to spending more time researching and learning. If I'm very fortunate and the planets line up right I might even be able to contribute a little. From what I can tell this isn't a search Nazi site and you don't have to have a disclaimer typed before posting a question. A friendly atomosphere in other words. With that said I apologize in advance for a plethora of dumb questions, ideas, and/or requests I may post going forward. Jester
