  1. I broke in the barrel on my 308ar using PMC 147gr. 100+ rounds with the stock DPMS trigger group, was a long 6-7 lb pull. Shot a bit yesterday with a Hiperfire 24 3G. DPMS lower and have light springs installed (2-2.5 lbs.) The Hiperfire is nice short pull, crisp, light. No problems with fire/safe or functionality. I ran a couple of boxes of PMC with no problems...tweaking my zero a bit. I then switched to Hornady American Whitetail 150 Gr. Soft Point. Twice I had primer strike that didn't fire. First shot out of mag, goes bang fine, second shot just a click. I drop the mag, clear the chamber and inspect. Yup, primer strike visible. Put the same cartridge back in mag, fired fine as did next 3 rounds (originally loaded 5 in mag). I check my target, then load mag with 5 more rounds. Same thing...first one fires, second one click. Clear, see primer strike mark, reload, fires fine. What the heck? Didn't have the other parts with me...so will have to switch springs and try again.
  2. I have one of these in my LR308 based build. The gun is barely broke in and I have not used any other buffer/spring type in this rifle. I can, however, say that I have had zero issues with it so far and when comparing it to a 5.56 AR that I have with a standard buffer/spring, it is quiet.
  3. So 147gr PMC is $0.65 per round, AM Eagle 168gr OTM is $1.00 per round, and Federal Gold Metal Match Sierra Match King BTHP 168gr (GM308M) is about $1.50. I don't see pushing out past 400 yds in the near future. Is the Federal American Eagle 168gr OTM for M1A likely as accurate (consistent?) out to 400 as the GM308M? I'm sure I'll buy a box or two of the GM308M, but was thinking of case of AmEagle OTM. Thanks!
  4. How is "Federal American Eagle 168gr OTM for M1A"? Has anyone tried this in a 308ar? It's a bit less expensive than 168gr Gold Medal Match...thought I might buy a few boxes and try it out. New gun, haven't fired it yet. I thought I would shoot some PMC 147gr to break in, then see how it works with 168gr.
  5. So, how does it shoot? I'm working on a build with a JP silent capture. Can't wait to try it, but need more upper half parts yet.
