  1. Im not offended at all... Im no stranger to the forums and how things are. WIth my truck and trailer, build.... Ive heard it all. LOL. I honestly wanted some reviews and or feedback. I was up all night with one hand on the debit card... I really only found debates between my vortex choice and another one like the Bushnell tactical, sightron, leupold, night force. For my "price range" with included options, the vortex won. It just seemed that everyone was partial to the one they had. But I have looked thru my buddy's Vortex ( exact one I got) the leupold and then a Millett ( good budget scope actually backed by bushnell I think). I liked my buddys vortex over my other buddy's leupold. Well see.... I know Ill be happy. I also know that when I upgrade, i have two other rifles to choose from to mount this baby!! I really do appreciate all the advice from you guys. On my other rifles, I just put the lowers together and purchased a complete upper. SO this is my first full build on my own. Soon as I get this thing done Imma head to this wheelin area.... all BLM land and over 1000 yard shots all day long. Im in Nor Cal by the way... Would be cool to gain some shooting tips from you seasoned guys.
  2. I actually did alot of research on that scope. Im pretty happy with it. At the end of the day, that all I care about. My budget was 1000$ or less. I think I made a good choice. YOu got some reviews on my scope??
  3. Vortex PST 6-24x50 MRAD FFP scope ordered. WIll ship today. Need rings, bi pod now and im DONE! For now i guess......
  4. Well I ordered the scope. I went thru cameralandny. got public safety discount. 850$ shipped! Vortex PST 6-24x50 FFP MRAD illuminated reticle.
  5. Ive decided on my scope. Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50... FFP with illuminated reticle. Im just unsure on what reticle to get. Im new to scopes, I would really appreciate some help and advice. Pros and Cons to each. Thanks!
  6. I really like the looks of the break. The reviews seemed great. But well see. I like it... all that matters. Rifle is done! Well.... I have almost everything in hand, what isnt has been shipped as of today. Im gonna buy my scope today or tomorrow. Looking at the Vortex PST... FFP, illuminated reticle. 6x24 mil rad. Im open to suggestions. I want to stay under 1000$ Thanks.
  7. I had the red... Didn't know if I should use that or the blue though. So red is good to go then. I'll finish it up when I'm off duty then. All I need is my gas block and I'm done. Well it's shooting.... Im still looking at what trigger to get though.
  8. Nothing is torqued, nothing is sealed. I just put everything together. It was my first time. I kno I have to stake the bolts. Again, was waiting to see if I needed any thread locker on the bolts. What do u suggest I torque to? What sealant? Thread locker, red or blue? My FA 18.5" med BB hasn't come yet... Anyone kno if there is holes for gas block set screws? if so which gas block are u using? Thx
  9. Precision Armament Block... this thing is beefy
  10. All put together...
  11. Ok... sounds good. I will go ahead and put the BCG together then. I ordered the APEX 12.5 inch hand guard and their overprived 12.5 inch top rail. That just shipped from Brownells. I was gonna go with the 15 inch, but I looked at pictures of some on rifles with an 18 inch barrel ( mine being 18.5) it was just too much hand guard for me. I know Ill still be able to get the bi pod out far enough with the 12.5. I just like the look of the 12.5 on the 18.5 inch barrel more. Only thing left to get is a scope.
  12. Honestly the bolt looks very nice. I just took a very close look at it and noticed some imperfections.
  13. SI-Defense
  14. I dont think these will be an issue, and I know from using the mill that there will be marks unless they are smoothed out. Just trying to get your guys' opinion.
  15. Bolt carrier came today. There is a couple of things I noticed. There is a couple of tiny nicks. I noticed some machining marks as well. Very minor but I'm wondering if I need to send it back. Will these things make a difference?
  16. Thanks for your suggestions guys, placed the order for the 18.5". Great info!
  17. Just called SI-D today. Ordered the Nickel boron BCG. Ordered it unassembled so it will ship out today! Gonna order the barrel as soon as I figure out wtf to get. I guess I am stuck on the length. I want 1:10 but I can't find one in a 20". I want to reach out to a 1000 yards. I guess that's why I was stuck on the 20".
  18. Anyone else have suggestions for barrels?? I really want to stick with a 20". What are your thoughts on a muzzle break vs no muzzle break? Thx
  19. You get your Upper and lower yet? I guess I ordered mine at the right time. Called and placed the order Feb 10. Shipped Feb 15. Signed for it Feb 20th. Pretty damn quick. Good luck man.
  20. 18.5 huh?? Ive read so much poop about barrels.... Some people say that an 18 is gonna be the best... then others say different. I felt that the 20" is the happy medium. I want this to be a 1000 yard rifle/ multi purpose. I was looking at a RRA 20" that was chrome lined, 1:10 twist. It was a much lighter barrel tho. I know with the 1:10 Ill have more precision ammo options. Are you mainly saying go shorter or try to find a 20"barrel with 1:10 twist? SI-D bolt carrier... have you heard anything about them? I like things to match... I figured that SI-D upper and lower with SI-D BCG would be the best match. I could be wrong tho..THx
  21. Just joined. I have a couple AR-15's that I built and I have been wanting to build a 308 for a while. I pulled the trigger and ordered a matched upper and Lower set from SI-Defense. I looked at a bunch of different brands and settled on the SI-Defense. I knew that the 308 was a whole different beast than building the 5.56. So Im here in hopes to get some opinions and suggestions on parts. Hopefully some reviews on your experiences as well. My goals... build a long range rifle but still pick it up and shoot it. But mainly long range. I was able to get alot done this last weekend at the show in Reno. Heres what I got so far.... SI-Defense upper- used DPMS parts to complete it (door, spring, etc) DPMS charging handle with Badger tac handle. SI-Defense Lower- DPMS LPK ( standard trigger). OD Green Ergo grip Magpul PRS butt stock (OD Green)....DPMS buffer, tube, and spring. Parts to order still.... Complete bolt assem. ( was gonna go with the SI-D nickel boron one) Thoughts?? 2 stage trigger or not??.... Im lost! So many to choose from. I got standard triggers on the AR-15's. Barrel---- going with 20".... from what Ive read, thats perfect for what my goals are. I like this one and its in stock... Id get the grey bead blasted finish not the shinny. Also threaded end. http://www.fulton-armory.com/barrelfatitan20nmhbarss1x12936gasblock.aspx Full length gas tube and Low pro gas block and full float handguard/rail. I really dont want a quad rail. Only putting a bi pod, Magpul AFG on it. No need for the bling Glass--- Vortex PST 6 x 24 Milrad ffp. Trying to place the order for the BCG, and barrel this week. Pretty sure thats most of it for now. Any input, opinions, or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance!
