  1. <BUMP>
  2. Am I too late? I somehow missed this whole thread and convo...
  3. Check out gunbroker.com, that is where I got my extra poly-mags for my LAR. Also, check out and kind of gun shows around your area, I picked up a metal mag there as well.
  4. I am fine with shooting 150's for the long range fun, but I am thinking 165-168 for my shorter barreled hunting upper. Just from the math that I was able to find online (really wish I had more resources than other blogs) then a 150 gets optimal spin for a 24" barrel grooved at 1:12 and a 165 gets close to optimal spin for a 16" grooved at 1:10. I personally wouldn't mind getting an 1:11.5 grooved 24" barrel because from what I have read on the interwebs (more blogs), that actually did shoot better than the standard 1:12.
  5. I was thinking a bull barrel maybe for the 24" variation, after all, I will not be carrying it very far. Apparently, just looking at the interwebs, the 150gr .308 Win was actually designed to be used in a 24" 1:12 barrel...
  6. I have just been using 150gr simply because it is what I was shooting before and what I found in stock. Also, I was thinking about it, I might go to thw 24" barrel for reaching those hard to get place :P what are the thoughts for bullet weight and barrel twist at that length?
  7. See, for a 16" that goes out to 600 yds are you going to want something for close in as well? Because I would go different than all of these guys, I would go with an EOTech 512 with a flip up 3X Magnifier. Though I also shoot out to 500 yds with a 5.56 using iron sights... But that would be what I would go for.
  8. I hail from the East, Louisburg, but it looks like I will be settling down near Emporia, somewhat Central.
  9. Looking for a RRA LAR8 Flat-Top Upper Receiver, BCG and barrel does not need to be included, but other than that, complete please. If barrel is included looking for a 16" barrel, nothing longer. I don't want a stripped one simply because getting the parts is a chore in and of itself. Thank you for reading and have a pleasant day. Respectfully Submitted, OFP2651
  10. Sweet, Sounds like I need to invest in some 168 instead of the 150 I have been shooting then. I finally passed the 200 rd for my barrel, though I dont think I properly broke it in. Just went shooting to shoot, then take it home and clean it really well. I still plan on replacing the stock RRA 20" with a better barrel, any suggestions for that? I like the length of 20" and would prefer to keep it there. I just want this thing shooting out and touching plates at 1000 yds and further.
  11. I was not saying I was going to win, I just like seeing pictures of everybody's builds and the creative ways they show them off.
  12. Like I said, it shot fine out of my A2 Classic, but not my SO, just confusing to me. When I get back I will probably give it a my gunsmith and see what he can do with it.
  13. It comes in a box like this.
  14. I am headed back home to KS this week, and I am not taking any of that ammunition there, so it will be something like a month until I ever shoot the CBC ammo again.
  15. I dont think it is breaking them on the way in, I will definitely take some pictures if I shoot anymore of that ammunition, I have kinda separated it from my usual ammo stores because of that fact. I was getting some funny looks at the ranges when I was double feeding and having to punch out an ejected round.
  16. When using CBC 7.62x51mm the casing actually breaks on the rim where the ejector grabs it. I wish I took some pictures of the last time it happened, but unfortunately didnt happen. The break is obviously from the ejector because it is the same size. I just don't know if the ejector is too tight or if its something else; I know its not the ammo, because they worked in my last RRA rifle, the A2 version, but not my SO version. Just wondering if I could get some insight from people a little more educated in these matters than myself.
  17. I have a 1:10 and was just curious as to which weight grain would be the best for it, as well as any other data pretaining to barrel twist and bullet weight.
  18. Sadness, understandable, but still... sadness :'(
  19. That would be an amazing trip, no doubt.
  20. With all the positive things I have been told I actually went ahead and ordered one tonight actually.
  21. Sweet, thanks, I sent them a message via there website but I haven't heard back. I plan on stopping by there shop when I am in KC next time.
  22. I have heard multiple different brands of suppressors are really good. I am looking at getting the Smith Enterprise Wind Talker suppressor simply because I hear they are great and they will fit my Smith Vortex flash suppressor without any extra work. It just got me wondering what other people do for sound suppressors here on the site.
  23. You got steel 30s? I have been looking for those! Can't find a single one for a fair price anywhere near me; but yeah, welcome to the LAR-8 club! I had the same experience with my first A2 LAR-8 w/ iron sights.; didnt even touch them and killed a Monster energy can at about 50 yds (hunting club grounds, didn't really measure). I aboslutely love my LAR-8, it is a good buy and totally worth it.
  24. Contests! There were three of them in Nov 2011 and then nothing more it seems. Just a little confusing :D
  25. Will having the heavy buffer spring mess with the ejection step in the Cycle of Operations? Or should it be no different besides the reduced recoil?
