Don't get me wrong. The ACOG is an excellent optic. Trij has a new VCOG coming in 2014. It looks awesome as well.

Pics are fine. Yeah the ACOG is huge. The new VCOG looks more like the Elcan. Comes out in 2014. Be around Aimpoint,Eotech and ACOGS. The Elcan is new but I like the size and quick release option. What model is your Elcan and pros/cons.

I like the size of it. Low profile as well. Trijicon has a new VCOG coming out that compares with Elcan. I wish you could glass these before you buy.

Gunna look at the Elcan. The Hamr as well and compare. Well at least I can kinda narrow it down.

Eotechs are good to go unless they get hot. Aimpoints are better but I am looking for variable magnification up too 500 yds. Tired of lugging around a heavy clump as well(why I sold the M1A). Leupold Hammers are a good choice plus they offer a killer discount for military. Gunna search around. Got nuttin but time.

Well after further research from comments here, its not a reliable optic. As it would seem there are issues with the power consistencies and low light wash out. Not really worth a $800 dollar experiment I'm afraid. Oh well on to the next option.

Leupold makes excellent bases and rings. Look around online and you can get a 2 piece or one for around $100

I really don't do targets but rapid engagement during low light(dusk/dawn) is what I am thinking. I could see glare washing out hologram. The possible failure issue is also a concern as was stated.

I have to say this system takes all the dope calculations out of the picture. I am looking hard at the Eliminator 3 for my AR-10. I have a MK4 on the 700 but the size and capabilities offered(albeit if they are true) would be a better choice on the AR IMO. Anyone have any inputs?
