  1. My excellent condition Leupold Mark 6 1-6x (CMR-W 7.62 illuminated reticle) w/ ADM Recon QD mount is up for sale. Sold my SR-25 so i'm looking to sell the scope and mount now. It is in absolutely mint condition and includes everything it originally came with (box, manuals, etc). It's only been mounted for 120 rounds and always been stored in a Pelican case when not in use. Works equally as well on a 5.56 platform. Go ahead and read some reviews. One of the best 1-6x scopes out there. $1,795 shipped in the lower 48 states for scope/mount/box. Tracking and insurance included as well. Paypal or USPS Money Orders accepted. I'll knock $100 off if a local pickup in Connecticut.
  2. My Lilja is a 1 in 11 twist. At the normal ranges I can shoot (max of 400 yards) I don't think i'm going to see much of a difference. It shoots 168gr fine. Haven't tested anything heavier yet, but do plan to shoot 175 and 178s.
  3. It's perfect for CQB. I don't know what you're talking about....
  4. $7,450 with mags <thumbsup>
  5. So I just decided to toss my Surefire M600u on to the SR. Mounted on a Haley Strategic Dropwing mount with a Surefire rail pressure switch.
  6. Friday night I made up a couple different loads. I made 10 rounds of each group. The extras shown are the same as one of the groups, but the COAL varies, due to me adjusting the seating die when I changed bullets. I'm going to use those as just practice rounds. I started low on the Hornady bullets according to the manual. The Sierra manual specified a greater charge for the 175gr so I went a little higher on those. Hit the range Saturday and shot some factory GMM as well as my hand loads. Since i'm just beginning testing, I ran them through my bolt gun for now to confirm quality and function. When starting testing I found the bottom two loads to group OK, but they just weren't fast enough. FPS was between 1,800 and 2,000 on those two. The top two were much better with the top right group shooting around 2,250-2,300 FPS. The 100 yard group below is 5 rounds of my top right Sierra load. It measured .584". I'm definitely on the right track and looking forward to checking out them with the SR-25 after I test a few more options out. Don't mind the other target, it was another shooter sighting his .308 Rem 700 in.. On another note I thought this was bad ass! I ordered a couple inert 375 and 408 Cheytac rounds to add to my inert rifle collection. Holy crap they are huge. That's a lowly 308 between the two. The 375 uses a 350gr bullet while the 408 uses a 419gr Jamison International bullet.
  7. I am using a DPMS BCG in my build and it's been flawless. I just noticed yesterday that my firing pin retaining pin is loose and if I remove the BCG from the upper the pin slides right out and allows the firing pin to be removed. It still works, but for piece of mind i'm going to pick up a spare pin or two.
  8. Well I hit them again with the tool and the chamfer is better now. As to the crimp, I need to play around with the bullet seating. Even a slight taper crimp, you won't notice it by just looking at the round from what i've read. There is no cannelure on the bullets i'm using. A slight taper crimp should be all I need if the bullet isn't tight enough without one.
  9. The cases I shown were chamfered and debarred already. Hard to pick up on the eye phone.
  10. That way the primer pockets get cleaned some when tumbling. Got through some last night. Tumbled, deprimed, resized, primer pocket cleaned/reamed, flash hole reamed, case trimmed, and primer seated. Tomorrow ill do powder and bullet on some to bring to the range and test.
  11. My trimmer arrived so i'm in the process of tumbling some brass. I also ordered a Lee depriming die so I can deprime before I tumble without resizing. Hoping to make up a few loads this weekend.
  12. After some thought, and with how expensive match 308 ammo is i've decided to give reloading a shot. I plan to mostly reload for the bolt gun, but after some testing with the SR, plan to do that as well. I've don'e research and have received most of what I ordered. RCBS Rock Chucker RCBS Case Lube kit Redding Deluxe Die Set .308 RCBS Shell Holder Sinclair Ultimate Case Trimmer (only thing i'm waiting to arrive) RCBS Chargemaster 1500 RCBS 505 scale Flash hole Deburring Tool Flash hole reamer Primer Pocket Reamer Primer Pocket Cleaner Case Chamfer and Deburring tool Large Rifle Primer Pocket Uniformer Neck brush Frankford Arsenal Case Tumbler/Separator RCBS Stuck case remover RCBS Hand primer Powder Trickler 2 Funnel Wilson Case Length Headspace gauge Also ordered a pair of calipers as well as the Sierra and Hornady Reloading Manuals. I grabbed some Varget and Federal 210M primers. Plus, I've already scored 400 Hornady 178gr A-max bullets. I also scored a Chrono to have even more data when testing loads. Wasn't sure what I was going to do for a bench, but I found a gem at Harbor Freight. It's about 100lbs empty and looks like it will be perfect for a first bench! Rock solid with no movement! The press is going to mount on the right side where the vise is. I've seen others make a wood adaptor so the press is removable and out of the way. Got my press in and started playing around with full length resizing/depriming as well as bullet seating. Marked the OAL of these on the case. The cases are not trimmed (still waiting on my trimmer). Just cleaned, deprimed, resized, and bullet seated. I found some of the cases were getting small dimples when resizing so I'm experimenting with how much lube. Going for a less is more thing. Also plan to try a few different OAL. Something close to what I have now, the guide sugested OAL, and slightly longer than the guide specified 2.810" Now just waiting on my case trimmer from Sinclair. Unfortunately, the case trimmer is on backorder so i'm not sure when i'll get the full process started. Here is where i'm at right now. It's all coming together.
  13. Like Edge, my tastes are a bit more expensive out of a .308, but seeing a list of parts may help you understand what items you need to acquire to build your own. I suggest getting the best barrel you can afford. The barrel and carrier group are the heart of the rifle.
  14. Yep. Make sure you're running the gun correctly. I made the same mistake.
  15. Haha...yep! So true...after the 5th person or so between threads said it could be me I got to wondering. Glad it was me and not the tool.
  16. Well good news. Hit the range today and really kept thinking about everyone saying how much harder it is to run the gas gun. I focused on my cheek weld and using my off hand to really grip the fore end and pull the rifle into my shoulder. Shot off of bags. At 100 yards, i'm happy to say I think I can rule me as the issue. I remounted the Leupold 1-6 for todays shooting. All groups are FGMM 168gr, 5 rounds. First group is the first one I shot at that distance. After I settled down I pulled off the second and third groups shown. There were a couple others in between that were close to the same. I think it's safe to say, I figured out the issue....me. Don't mind the groups being high, I hadn't dialed it in at 100 yards and was just shooting for groups. First group was 1.5" After settling down and trying to focus on cheek weld, breathing, and holding the rifle. .839" Then followed up with a .916"
  17. After each of the first 15 rounds I swabbed with the bore snake. I've looked in the barrel, there is nothing in it. It's clean and there is no fouling. I will clean it again with a bronze brush, just need to get the correct size.
  18. Yeah he's been really good throughout the build. I have faith whatever it is, it'll get sorted out eventually.
  19. He works for himself. He already told me he'd take a look at it so I do plan to send it back. On snipers hide I posed the same question and most of the responses seem to think it's me not being familiar with the platform or possibly changing something between shots that is causing this.
  20. He never said it was accurate, he never shot it, just put it together.
  21. Yeah he does a lot of KAC uppers, so I assume it's fine. Ayan did say he would take a look at if I wanted to send it back, but suggested I remove the brake and try it like that just to rule it out. The only cleaning of the barrel that's been done has been a bore snake with a bit of Rem Oil on it. I'm going to get it back out this Sunday and see what happens.
  22. Yeah i'm going to wait to see what they say. I would have put it together myself, but figured since the barrel nut wrench is $300 i'd have someone who knows what they are doing and has all the tools put it together. It could be me, i'm not saying it isn't, but having not had one remotely solid group out of all I shot seems odd. It's a bad a$$ gun that's for sure.
  23. Lol, I would be the first person to say it's the shooter. The thing is i've put it in a lead sled and it's making groups like this. I have shot the AR-15 platform many times and never seen issues like this. I had a friend shoot as well and he basically did the same thing. Was very perplexed about where the rounds were going at 100 yards. I've emailed Lilja and the guy who put together my upper to see what they think.
  24. I'm about to give up! Had this built and it just doesn't seem to shoot. I had a guy who specializes in KAC guns put the upper together for me. I'm only shooting FGMM 168gr and Remington Premier 168gr. It does it with either ammo. Same lots of ammo are tack drivers in my FN SPR (target on the right) I've tried two different optics: Leupold Mk6 1-6 and a Vortex PST 6-24x50 FFP. Both mounted to spec, torqued properly etc. Nothing seems loose and everything seems tight. Although some of you have seen the build thread, the build consists of: Knights Pre-ban SR-25 receiver set Troy .750 Low-pro Gas Block AAC 51T Blackout Muzzle Brake DPMS BCG Lilja 18" stainless 1/11 barrel Knights URX 3.1 rail (very hard to find) Knights URX 3.1 Rail Panel Kit Knighs Receiver Sling Mount Knights Combat Trigger Guard Knights 45 degree offset sights Geissele SSA-E trigger (2 stage, 1.5lbs, incredible) BCM Mod 4 Charging Handle DPMS Gas Tube VLTOR RE-10 Buffer Tube Damage Industries H3 buffer BCM Mod 0 Pistol Grip Armalite AR-10 Operating Spring DPMS Bolt Catch Armalite LPK Magpul ACS Stock Targets are all 100 yards. Left Target: First shot green, second shot low, third green, next two low. SHOT IN LEAD SLED Middle Target: First two green, third orange, fourth green, fifth yellow. SHOT OF BIPOD/REAR BAG These are two of many groups I've shot. Where do I go from here?
  25. Well I was able to hit the range today to sight in the rifle and test out the setup. The factory paperwork with the rifle shows that 15 rounds were fired, 1 Black Hills 308 and 14 FGMM 168gr. The factory test target shows 3 rounds fired with a .65" group. Not bad. Got on paper at 50 yards and then put it at 100 yards. Shot a few groups to confirm zero and then shot a few to see what I could do. All are 5 round groups. I was able to get out to 210 yards towards the end, but it was down pouring so I just shot a few groups before I got the one below. I figured 5 rounds is more of a test to see what it can do than 3 rounds. I am very happy with the rifle and the scope at this point! Rifle performed wonderfully as did the scope. The fact that i'm shooting tighter groups with more rounds than the factory accuracy showed makes me happy. I mislabeled the following photos. Ammo used on the two Dirty Bird 100 yard targets was Remington 168gr Premier Match. The 210 yard target is correct with 168gr FGMM. I think FGMM at 100 yards would perform even better than the Remington, but I'm very happy with the Remingtons performance in this gun.
