I'm ready to get the handrails and finish my build but I have a question about two styles that fit my budget. Midwest industries or the jp free floats... Both are right around 220 (Midwest industries is 199). I like the MWI a little better as far as aesthetics but I'm not really to hung up on that, I prefer function over looks. The MWI also come with a wrench for the barrel nut. Any experience with these to models? Any other suggestions in the same price range? Thanks for the help fellas.... I am running a syrac low profile adjustable GB in a .750 diameter in case that question is relevant...

Rsquared... I am right there with you man... One wake up call and 4 classes to teach and I'm going skiing..er BARing..while the kids ski..and then it's back home to finish my 308 build... One of the perks of being an educator... Merry Christmas to you all...

I ordered a barrel from Rainer arms last week which uses a .750 GB. Since ordering the barrel, I have called dozens of times and sent a few emails with no response. I know, they are busy but I'm not comfortable sending my bolt and 325.00 to them if they don't even answer their phones. Now I am going to cancel my order and get a Fulton Armory barrel which uses a .936 gas block. Besides syrac, what is the best low profile, adjustable gas block to get in .936? All suggestions welcomed and appreciated... Thanks guys.....

I searched for a discussion on these but really didn't find what I was looking for so I will throw it out to everyone... I am going to order a Rainier arms 18" barrel for my build. I want to shoot everything through it and I want to be accurate as far out as I can. I will never shoot competitions but I love to shoot tight groups... What is the difference between the match and the select barrels from Rainier arms? The select is polygonal and the match is 1:10 I'm gonna shoot walmart crap and eventually reload. My question is the difference between the two.. Which is more accurate? Is the additional $45 worth the upgrade? .. I have an adjustable gas block already.... Thanks for the help...

AR 10 vs. LR 308 barrel question
Eastcoastlaxin replied to Eastcoastlaxin's topic in General Discussion
Agree with the wise silverback.... I thought there was a difference, it was more of a curiosity question to make sure I know what I'm talking about... I have looked at the dpms barrels, just waiting for funds to become available and window shopping to know what I want when the time comes. Thanks for the help guys... -
I admit to be a newbie as I build my LR 308 but while looking on GB I came across this barrel which seems like a decent price but it is listed as an AR10 barrel. I know there is a difference between AR10 (armalite) and LR308 (DPMS). My question is will this barrel fit a dpms style upper? My understanding is that when it comes to barrels, AR10 barrels are longer where the feed ramps are or am I mis-informed on that? Here is the link http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=451564651 Thanks in advance for all the help, you guys provide...

Shadow Ops Weaponry 308 BCGs... Back in stock...
Eastcoastlaxin replied to Eastcoastlaxin's topic in General Discussion
I had a chance to take a closer look at the BCG. There were just a few darker brown streaks.. Almost like a real light coffee stain. Took some remington oil and rubbed it onto the BCG... Stains gone.. It is a "dry" BCG from shipping and needs to be oiled prior to use... Not sure if you have used yours yet... -

I noticed some discolorations on mine near the actual bolt but didn't really inspect it real close.... Project is very much on the "covert side" and haven't had enough time to really look. I will and report back... -

Barrel length and buffer question
Eastcoastlaxin replied to Eastcoastlaxin's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for that..... 800 yds with a 16 inch barrel is pretty impressive..... Speaking of barrels, my budget puts me at a black hole weaponry, Rainer select, or the 18.5 criterion from Fulton Armory... Any preference or suggestions? I'm at about a 300.00 barrel budget to get me shooting.... -

Barrel length and buffer question
Eastcoastlaxin replied to Eastcoastlaxin's topic in General Discussion
It is this: TAPCO Receiver Extension Buffer Tube Assembly 6-Position AR-15 Carbine Aluminum Matte From Midway...... -
I had a question with regards to buffers and barrel length. I always thought carbine was 16" or less and rifle was over 20". I was thinking about an 18" barrel, wanting to shoot at the range out to about 300 yds and be able to reach out a little further for kicks and giggles... I thought that a 16" would be to short for that. I also thought that if I was using an adjustable stock then I needed to use carbine size buffer and spring. I'm building my 308 using a black rain 308 set and got a tapco buffer tube. Any and all info is greatly appreciated.

My wife got me a lee turret press last year for Christmas.... It is an addiction... I now reload my 9mm,40sw, and 45acp.... Get out in the garage, turn on the radio and reload a few hundred or so rounds... Quite relaxing... Great purchase...

Hello all... I have been looking at different BCGs both on gunbroker and brownelles. I'm waiting for SOW to get their affairs in order but I saw these in GB and wanted everyone's honest opinion. The BCGs can be easily found if you go to GB, search" 308 BCG"and look for these: 308 BCG Bolt Carrier Group NiB/QPQ Bolt 308 (8bNQ) Auction # 446956105 The seller has great reviews but I am the perfect skeptic... What are your thoughts? I am aware of some "rule" on this forum and I am willing to be the one who purchases one and reports back...but do you think they are legit? I only ask you because I trust the unbiased info on this site...

Anyone from the first state active on this forum? I live in southern delaware and am currently in the process of building my first LR308. Using a Black Rain Norgaurd finish as my receiver set, and SLOWLY assembling the pieces to make this project happen...

Thanks easy..... I'll wait to hear from you when they are up and running before I buy...

Hello all.... Just checking back in to see if there is any new info on the SOW saga? Are they good to go for orders? I was also looking on GB at these BCGs... The write up sounds good...but......... If anyone has any experience with these I would be interested to hear.. 308 BCG Bolt Carrier Group NiB/QPQ Bolt 308 (8bNQ) Auction # 446001654 That is the listing, sorry couldn't get a better link, the seller goes by the name "wizard" and has good reviews.... Thanks for all the help!!

Thanks StainTrain. I found the whole discussion in here with what appears to be someone within SOW discussing how their company was almost run into the ground by an employee or two. I will be keeping an eye on this as I will be ready for a BCG in about a month or so... Just started building my first 308. Got a great deal on a black rain upper/lower set that I couldn't pass up...

Hello all, I'm new to this site and have been snooping around looking for BCG options. I saw the thread in here about the coupon code for Shadow Ops BCG but when I went to their site, there were several "angry" posts about ordering a BCG, having their CC charged and no BCG or return emails or phone calls.. Anyone have some details on this? All info appreciated...
