  1. I saw the Tatical Machining receivers. It doesn't say what they are made of.
  2. I heard one of the armed forces really pushed to get the M110 okayed. Although the rules seem rather open, I think what they intended to make legal is a M110 with scope and bipod removed and replaced with a handle and sights. For service rifle competition the AR15 is clearly the choice of the champions. Most competitors think even the thought of using a M110 is a bad idea. I look at it a little differently. I think our local little service rifle league is just a tool to get better with my rifle and have a little fun. Someday I hope to get a little more competitive at which time I'll put together a match grade AR15 and my M110 (wannabe) will be my backup sercice rifle (along with use in other types of matches).
  3. http://www.kearms.com/ar10-80-lower-raw Anyone used one of these?
  4. I can't get copy and paste to work. I was going to insert the NRA M110 service rifle rules. The bottom line is that the rifle you pictured is only legal in .223. All 308 AR's are illegal in CMP rules. The NRA allows only the M110 style AR's in 308. It must have the quad rail among other details.
  5. 98z5v that's a very nice rifle. A lot like I have in mind. I do want mine to be service rifle legal though. I don't think they allow adjustable stocks or scopes. I think I need M16 style sights with the front bolted to the gas block rail. I'm eyeing up a KE billet lower. Does anyone have experience with these? The price seems really good for 7075 material.
  6. Thanks FaRKle. That is the forward assist that I'm referring to. I also understand why it doesn't have one.
  7. How M110ish am I'm trying to get? General appearance mostly. Barrel length, stock, rail. I want it to look like a commercial equivalent regardless of which AR platform I choose to use.
  8. What is a forward assist?
  9. I've very strongly considering building an AR-308 to M110 specs. I want it to be NRA service rifle legal. I am a machinist and plan on making the quad rail to help keep costs under control. I haven't started buying parts yet. I'm new to the AR platform and there are more than a few things I need to learn. My first question is what is the round boss for that angles back out of the right side of the upper receiver on most AR's (that the M110 doesn't have)? If you were to build a rifle like this, what are the cheapest parts would you use?
