No, that's the other one that's getting the adjustable stock and URX type rail. This stock was originally purchased for that rifle though.

I kind of like the 2 tone. It needs more FDE to tie it all together. I'm thinking I'd like a FDE cerakote finish on my flash suppressor, gas block, and maybe the lower rail. Not sure about the lower rail though. I could probably paint the lower rail any time. I wouldn't think cerakote finish on those two little parts would be too pricey. I doubt if paint would hold up well on a flash suppressor. Here it is with the brand new out of the box ebay rifle scope that is used an isn't working properly. It'll probably get sent back, but I do like the model.
-
With the mixture of FDE and black, I think I'm probably better off with black. I was hoping it would match a little better.
-
I guess I was mistaken about the color then. Mine came with cerakote from factory. I'd still like to see how the colors match.

I had to take quite a bit off. I haven't shot the rifle yet, but after dry firing, I have to say that it feels an awful lot like my SSA now. Maybe even a little less spring tension, but pretty close. I have it on the lightest setting. I can't wait to get out and put some rounds through it. Thanks for the help fellow riflemen!

Anyone have a picture of the Strike industries FDE color dust cover on a Aero precision Coyote Tan Cerakote receiver? I'm wondering how the colors match.

The regular AR308 is really coming together. Unfortunately the last parts I ordered to finish the job didn't show up yet. So much for putting it together and shooting over Labor Day weekend. My scope showed up yesterday. A FSI Sniper from E-bay. They claimed new out of the box. It's clearly used with some issues. Hopefully they return some of my money and we'll call it good enough. It's 9 to 24 power. A little overkill, but I'm hoping I'll be able to see the holes I put in targets at longer range without dragging my spotting scope out. I do like the model of scope for the money. It just stinks when it's not as described.

That's not the way I'd have worded it! More like "paying for features that I want but don't need". :) For the price conscious, RRA is a very popular option. Typically they offer a nice balance of price and quality.

For a mil spec AR15 RRA does a nice job. If you look closer you'll see that LMT goes above and beyond mil spec. Go to the parts section and search for barrel pics. You'll see how the gas system is part of the barrel. The upper receiver and handguard appear to be one piece design. I've never shot an LMT, but they sure look like great rifles. That said, the RRA NM is the most common rifle by far at our service rifle competitions. For the money you can't beat it.

I have heard the RRA LAR15NM is the best service rifle for the money. Not sure if anyone sells complete rifles with White Oak Precision uppers, but their reputation is very good as well.

I'll throw in my 2 cents. My wife doesn't like a lot of recoil. A heavier rifle has less recoil. My wife will complain about a rifle that's to heavy or kicks to much. If I was going to build my wife an AR15 it would have a short lightweight barrel and handguard. The weight that's farthest from the shooter feels heavier than the weight next to your shoulder. I wouldn't care so much about the weight of the receiver. Quality is more important there. It would definitely be Aluminum. I'd go with a A1 stock with National Match lead weights. The weights should help with recoil (Yes, my wife thinks 223's have recoil) and balance. The A1 is better than A2 for her short arms. I'd also consider a short carbine stock to bring the weight closer to her shoulder. Of course, my wife prefers 22's and 410's. Hopefully your wife has graduated up from those already.

Need Reviews for the RRA LAR 8 Standard A4
beeks replied to ironpreacher's topic in Rock River Arms LAR-8
I know so many people that swear by RRA 223's. I'd really like to get my hands on their national match 223. However, when you turn to the 308 platform, RRA went their own direction. The lack of parts interchangeability with the more standard DPMS or Armalite turns me away from RRA. I'd expect the quality to be excellent, but if you want to make an upgrade you may find the options are far more limited. That's my 2 cents anyway. -
I'm guessing that Robocop1051 would be able to help you set something up. He set up a couple "pinned" topics in the "sales and coupons" section of this site.

Is there any chance we'll see a group buy one these?

https://www.boltcarrier.com/product/m110-buttstock-assembly-with-adjustable-buttplate-fde/ Too bad they are out of stock. Only $472.11! I guess I got a good deal!

It's Knights Armament. It comes on the M110. Knights Armament parts tend to be pricey. I'm surprised nobody makes a knockoff (that I've seen). The stock is standard aside from the big hole. The adjustable assembly bolts in just like the standard butt plate.

A can for the trail??? Sorry, I'm not following you.
-
I just looked at the Armalite AR10 national match. Aside from the design of the quadrail and the gas block missing the suppressor mount and lower rail, it does look like an M110 set up for competition.
-
I thought it was a good buy! Technically the adjustable stock isn't service rifle legal, but I don't think that the locals will care if I adjust it to the M16 stock length. If they do, I'll have to swap it out for competition. I planned on making the whole quadrail. I thought the lower half of the quad rail was an even bigger score. Now I can use measurements off of it to make the upper more correct as well as not having to make the lower. Sisco, I'd love to see pics of the rifles that they are using. Technically only the M110 (and commercial equivalent) is legal as far as 308 AR's go. What's unclear is what is considered commercial equivalent M110 and what's just an AR10. There's a line there somewhere. It's a bit foggy to me. The locals shoot mostly AR-15's with a few M1's and a couple M1A/M14's. No 308 AR's that I've seen yet.

The first mock up. Still needs a few parts. The Troy free float hand guard is a nice design and the price was right, but I should have asked about the rail height.

Thanks 98z5v! That's exactly what I needed.
