  1. Time for an update. I've been acquiring more parts. My M110 build has multiplied into 2 builds. I'll refer to the first as the M110 and the second as the AR-308. The only part that is sure go in the M110 is the SSA trigger. It looks like the second rifle is going to come together much faster than the M110. I found some lightly used parts with a price that I couldn't refuse along with the blemished MA receiver special. http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee160/beeks81/IMG_3161_zpsgwr4gjcz.jpg I bought this 2 stage trigger used from a guy that said it came in a Armalite rifle. He said he didn't like the 2 stage so he replaced it with a single stage and it's been sitting in a drawer for a few years. That's all he knew about it. I stuck it in a receiver and it feels nice, but stiff on the lightest setting. The second stage definitely has more travel than I'm used too.

Standard vs. NM trigger. How do you tell the difference?
  4. Survivalshop, You raise a good point. I guess that I'd just suggest giving the facts of why you dislike the barrel.
  5. The more I read about barrels that people recommend the more I realize that there are a lot of companies making good barrels these days. I'd like to start this thread about barrels that you would suggest people avoid. Poor accuracy to bad customer service, what ever the reason, I'd like to hear about your bad barrels. Please stick to the facts when reporting on your barrel issues.
  6. I haven't purchased pins yet, but the diameter of my AP pins fit nice. They are too long though. The play I'm concerned about it side to side or along the axis of the rear pin. I'll have to look into the adjustment detent. How do you know if it's adjusted properly?
  7. I received mine this past week. Overall I'm quite satisfied. The only blemish I can find is on the side of where the front takedown pin goes. It kind of looks like they squeezed it so the upper and lower would fit together tighter. I'm a machinist, I've seen this technique before. It doesn't appear that they squeezed it much. No complaints there (since I knew it was blemished before hand). The clearance between the upper and lower where the rear takedown pin is installed is definitely looser than my other DPMS style receiver. I am pretty new to the AR so I'm not sure how much clearance there should be, however I'm guess that in a perfect world there wouldn't be any clearance. Just a snug fit. I'd like to know if the upper or lower is the cause of the extra clearance. I plan on massaging the receivers to fit better. I'd like to address the half that is the problem. Would anyone know what the dimensions should be? or how much clearance there should be?
  8. I only read the very first post. My answer to that is to buy a cheap reliable bike. I've seen 600 sport bikes with as much horsepower as some of the biggest touring bikes. Horse power tends to drive up the prices. A good used bike with a few scratches will make it less noticeable when you add your own scratches. I think the Suzuki SV650, Gladius, and V-strom have one of the very best beginner motors. People will tell you that motorcycles are dangerous. In my experience it's the cars and trucks that are dangerous.
  9. Cool,Thanks!
  10. Would anyone know what diameter the M110 barrel is in front of the gas block (or how I can find out)? I know it uses an .875 gas block. Service rifle rules require all external dimensions to be correct.
  11. I've decided to machine my own quad rail. Anybody know off hand if the Aero Precision upper receiver rail is the same height as the AR-10? The tech spec page says the AR-10 is 1.318 bore center to top of rail.
  12. http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/catalog/product/view/id/623/category/4276/ I just ordered this AR15 parts kit from PSA because the price was right for just the SSA trigger. I figured I at least got a free grip in the deal. Are any of the other parts compatable? 13. My parts arrived today. Everything looks just as I expected it to. Thanks! PS: I hope you enjoy your new diapers! LOL!
  14. I have one of these. Anybody know if parts kits are available in this color? It is tan. It's hard to tell on my computer.
  15. Does mecharmor make 2-stage triggers?
  16. I'm glad I asked. Thanks guys.
  17. Does anyone know if Rock River Arms 2 stage match trigger will fit an Aero Precision (308 DPMS style) lower receiver? My coworker loves his LAR-15NM with the trigger and the price is right.
  18. Will you trade gun parts for diapers? ::) PM sent.
  19. Thanks!
  20. Anyone have experience with these? http://www.dwilsonmfg.com/store/p18/AR10_Bolt_carrier_Group.html
  21. It Begins! I just ordered an Aero Precision receiver set. http://www.schuylerarmsco.com/product.m5-308-stripped-receiver-set-fde-cerakote-993
  22. The first decision I need to make is Armalite or DPMS style parts. What are the pro's and cons of each?
  23. I've heard really good things about White Oak .223's. I don't see any .308's on their site.
  24. In my opinion as a Machinist, cast aluminum isn't very good. I haven't seen a 308ar receiver made out of it and I'd highly recommend avoiding it if you did find one. In aluminum I don't think there would be a lot of difference between forged and billet. I really don't know anything about forging aluminum though. 6061 should be sufficient, but 7075 is a big step up and the price usually reflects this. Thanks for finding out what the Tactical Machining receivers are made of for me.
