  1. whoops.. my bad ..lol ..Weather was a factor. but this time it was cooler ..
  2. I dunno..But you saw both videos from my previous testing ...one with the gas port opened almost all the way and the other 3/4 way closed..and the velocity results were different ..Im not too sure about the whole sound thing
  3. thanx.. Im still experimenting with it.. I am awaiting some subsonic 230gr loads for further testing using my buddies sound suppressor.. I am very curious to see how quiet it can get :)
  4. Here is the updated chronographed test footage
  5. Never really had any failure to eject or feeding problems with it since i built it..but if yo take a look at this video ..I am ejecting brass in the 1 oclock direction showing an indication of the gun being overgassed.. After turning the gas down 3/4 way to close ..I am now ejecting Brass at a 4 oclock direction which is perfect and the gun is not over gassed.. But i discovered while doing this my bullet velocity increased to about 100fps faster than my previous testing..
  6. Hi Eveyone Ok so i figured out that my 8" SBR in 338fed was over gassed..and i turned the gas selector 3/4 way to the close position and now my AR10 is shooting much smoother and kicking the brass at a 4 oclock direction..I did another chronograph test after i did this and i am gaining about 100fps faster at 2310fps out of my barrel using the same 185gr American Eagle. The weather today was cooler than before ..temps were around 87F. Any thoughts? I made a video to record the results from today but i have not yet uploaded it..
  7. here is a link to another thread started of the accuracy results in the 338 fed http://forum.308ar.com/topic/11874-testing-the-338-federal-8-ar10-sbr-accuracy-at-90-yards/
  8. The next video will be a pig hunt..i am curious on those results..But i will not shoot one without taking video and reporting it back here
  9. no problem..I know its not a professional test nor setup due to the fact i wasnt even sitting using a bench rest or using a precision trigger system nor a very expensive high end optic..but at 90yards and just wingin it from a standing position with multiple shots it wasnt too bad..Some other people thought it might start to keyhole at that distance..but i guess i proved them wrong
  10. Ok So i finally got off my lazy butt and put together the Accuracy testing video that i previously mentioned in my other thread. The results werent too bad for such a short barrel..I was at 90 yards in a standing position. My scope was previously zeroed in at a 25yard distance so i had to a do a little bit of compensating..The wind was blowing the target a little bit during that day so it started to sway back and forth..But overall i think it was a successful test..The results are below.
  11. Ok fellers..Heading to the range soon to do some accuracy and distance testing.. I Will report back here later tonight
  12. I am not a reloader myself but based on multiple reloaders that I have spoken with .they claim that Alliant powders are temp sensitive ..If you know any reloaders ask them to see if they have the same results I would like to know this.. I also did a google search on this claim and there is a full review from Rifle Shooter Magazine and they claim the same thing ..Please click on the link and you guys can be the judge for yourself http://www.rifleshootermag.com/accuracy-tests/fact-fiction-gunpowder-temperature-sensitivity/
  13. Yes i do..The Statement.. Temp Sensitive powders Defines exactly what it means....Please read my previous post..I was wondering which other ammo manufacturing companies use temp sensitive powders......I have spoke to a few reloaders and some of them tell me that they know for certain that Alliant powders are the worst for increasing/decreasing in power released with changes of temperature, and the best one for not showing swings in power released are Hodgdon Extreme powders, most ball powders are stable until extreme cold/hot situations show themselves.
  14. Ill have to do a night shoot..i cant really see anything during the daytime..Same with my 50 beowulf SBR
  15. Yeah thats kinda little above and beyond what i am gonna do to check cold-cool weather ballistics..I dont know how many ammunition companies like Federal and Alexander Arms use temp sensitive powders but i would think that there is reasons behind it....Here in south texas it is mostly hot throughout the year..i more than likely will expect to see the same chronograph readings that i am getting throughout most time of the year..I guess it is to my advantage that i get a faster bullet due to my weather here v.s somewhere up north where it is more cooler and dryer...What i will do though in december when it starts to cool down here in texas..i will take it out for another chronograph testing to see the velocity change and report back my results..
  16. could be..but i was getting similar results with my 50 beowulf..I think it has to do with the temp outside..
  17. Believe it or not..the chrono was about 15ft away from me lol.. I guess i should have put it further .I dont believe the sunshade being knocked off had anything to do with the velocity change..I have seen this happen before to others and that does not change the consistencies if it is built back properly. The temp was a little warm that day..it could have been why i was getting a little higher readings..The previous time i shot into it, I only shot a string of 2..this time it was 4 of the 180gr nosler.. I tested my 50beo after to see if there were any inconsistencies from my previous test and the 50 beowulf 335gr was about 20fps faster than my previous test shooting a string of 5 shots..So in conclusion i believe the warmer weather does have something to do with slightly higher readings..On average i am getting a little over 2200fps with the 180gr noslers
  18. I have a lobbyist name todd rathner that does all that stuff..look his name up on facebook and shoot him a message and he will take care of that law to be passed..he helped us out here in texas with our NFA stuff...thanx for looking and im glad you like it
  19. Thank you..I enjoy making these videos and sharing it here with all you good people....If anyone decides to build one like this please post your results and your reviews
  20. thanx for commenting glad you fellers like it..I still got some more testing to do at 200yards..I will report back soon
  21. Alrighty fellers ..I have uploaded a video for you guys on all documented chronographed results of my 8" .338 Federal SBR ..Please leave comments and i Hope you enjoy.
  22. according to some others who have a similar setup like yours..you should be pushing a 160gr close to 2300fps..
