A friend of mine had a Remington bolty in 7mm magnum. I shot it 3 times. Went to the doctor to have my shoulder replaced. It was like a hit with a sledge hammer each time. My buddy I hunt with uses a Browning in 300 WSM. He doesn't shoot a lot, but 400+ yard shots is what he is after. I like the 308. At 100 yards or 600, it's a take down.

Ok, picked up a Winchester model 70 in 308 last week. Heavy barrel, Winchester composite stock, Harris bipod and a Burris scope. Scope will be replaced with either a Leupold or a Nikon M-308 like on my Rock River LAR-8. Trigger is stock and feels like maybe 4-5 pounds. Any suggestions on triggers or stocks?
