  1. Nice build man .. first new posts Ive seen on here in a while , Those Mega set's are super nice but far outta my price range ... Ha .. I built my entire LR 308 for about 100.00 more than your stripped upper / lower set cost you .... Anyone wanting to build an LR 308 on a budget can do it for a reasonable price but it takes time to find quality parts on sale or on clearance , I started with an 80% lower that I picked up during Xmas for 60.00 shipped ...Good luck finding a deal like that till around Xmas again ... I didn't spend big money on a big brand name barrel either ... Just a cheap Anderson 18" middy 90.00 shipped ... that is a tack driver , my buddies cant believe how accurate it is .. As long as I can kill a hog at 200 yds Im happy with it , and to look at IMO its Bad Ass , completely wrapped it in Mossy Oak Infinity vinyl which gave it a factory camo dipped look at an 1/8 of the cost ..... As for Lube Ive been running my BCG with full synthetic Castrol , seems to really work well compared to other stuff that costs more ...I don't have it dripping off the thing but plenty wet enough to run like a top ... Only issue I had was the rear take down pin wasn't tight enough so I had a slight cycling issue at first ...Put in a new take down pin tightened it up nicely and it runs well now ... So for those that have cycling issues with your DPMS style LR 308 don't forget .... that your upper needs to be on the lower super tight to keep the mag setting where it need be to cycle properly ...I was amazed that a sloppy rear take down pin was the cause the problem but it was ..
  2. I know this is an old thread like most of them on this forum but , From my shopping around experience seeing the 308 BCG prices are so high I found what I think was the best deal for my whole build ..so for those looking to buy a 308 BCG you need to check out the TOOLCRAFT (maker of many big name BCG's ) 308 BOLT CARRIER GROUP NI-BO 9310 MPI at WCArmory for get this .... 139.00 ... Mine ran 146.00 shipped . They might be Out of stock but the deal is worth the wait which is only a few days ...... I guarantee you will be happy with the quality and fast shipping ... Its one beautiful BCG , so take a look , as of a few min ago they are on back order but its worth looking /getting on the waiting list for sure http://www.wcarmory.com/toolcraft-bcg-308-bolt-carrier-group-ni-bo-9310-mpi-complete.htm
  3. Good God Man , if you don't know what a FWD assist is ..... Maybe you shouldn't be building a rifle ... or at least do some homework before you start to build a gun you have no idea as to how it functions , or what each part does ... No wonder they want our guns ....
  4. Very Nice build Man ... as for optics ....look for a nice Schmidt& Bender I hear they are the shiZnit ....
  5. First off It depends what your looking to do with the gun and how much your going to use it IMO , Personally I wont be shooting this gun all the time its gonna be a hunting rifle so I'm not going to spend more $ on the barrel than It cost me to build a whole upper ... So far my complete LR308 build is at 650.00 with name brand parts bought on clearance .. There are plenty of good high end brand barrels that you can pay out the nose for if you want .... Some companies seem to think because of their name they can charge 4 times what it should cost , so be careful , the barrel is your most important factor when it comes to accuracy . But can also be the most costly part of the build . If you want a budget Barrel ... the Anderson 18" mid length is a great barrel , very accurate for right at 90.82 shipped ... They also have a 20" and a 16" at a similar price . I know plenty of guys that have been happy with a Faxon barrel they seem to be priced right for what you get ... Just cost more than Im willing to spend but to each his own ..
  6. Im building an LR 308 and have almost finished it up , Just got the BCG yesterday from WC Armory ... a complete NIB DPMS Platform BCG for under 150 .00 shipped ... Its frikin sick beautiful to say the least made by Tool craft its the best deal Ive found in a while ... Enough on that part .... I couldn't wait to stick the bcg in and cycle it a few times , When I put it in the upper it was great ....once I started to cycle it a few times ...the buffer /spring compressed and stayed compressed until I knocked it loose from behind , had to remove the stock to punch it out .... Im running a regular length AR 15 buffer tube and it seems to barley be long enough .... Im running a DPMS , LR 308 spring and 2.5" buffer so that stuff is correct , my tube is 7"3/4 .... The BCG is 8"3/4 so how is this gonna work ?
