  1. Okay then, fornicate them and we're moving on to the next idea... LOL.
  2. Wow... https://www.cheaperthandirt.com/product/ballistic-advantage-premium-series-ar-dpms-pattern-20-65-creedmoor-rifle-length-barrel-stainless-steel-18-twist-0875-gas-block-threaded-5-8x24-bead-blasted-finish-babl65cr02p-05740.do
  3. They recommended this to me: http://ballisticadvantage.com/20-inch-65-rifle-ss-premium-barrel.html
  4. Thanks Wash, I like your suggestions!
  5. Thanks MM, will go look at those now.
  6. Just heard consistently positive things as I am doing some due diligence and scanning through the Hide, as well as what I have gleaned from the threads I have read. Broughton looks to be a good one that I was unaware of too, I've know of most of those, hell they're all good right, any of them would make me a barrel that frankly I will only do an injustice to as a shooter.

  8. Well, I have almost convinced myself... haha. So many great barrel mfg's these days... Brux seems to have some decent pricing... anyone have any experience with them? This 308 is a venerable old staple, I begrudge it nothing, I've shot more than my fair share, but this 6.5CM is a bitch'in round! Like I said, I am almost convinced.
  9. Haha... Seriously, its cheaper to load, better ballistics, I can use my existing purchases, ie; bolt etc., so no harm no foul... I realize it is a 4th quarter change but... Hmmm.
  10. The Double Clutch Read this: http://www.scout.com/military/snipers-hide/story/1496625-hello-2015-now-replace-your-308 Now seriously considering going 6.5 CM. What say you?
  11. Thanks JT. So the big detractor is the weight issue, huh? For me, a gun intended for temporary placement or permanent installation the length isn't as much a concern, I'm looking mostly for comfort (shooting), reliability, and accuracy in this particular build. Thanks for all the great input guys, much appreciated! I wanna order, but am gonna sleep on it and order tomorrow. Will post the update when I do. ;-)
  12. Thank you SS. I am surprised this barrel length gas set up issue has not been more definitively resolved, its a stymie fo rthe advancement of 308 builder movement. Alas, I am confused, again. Ha So a Rifle length gas is okay on a 18" barrel? In the end my biggest concern is to avoid building a gun that won't run as intended.
  13. Okay, so you guys don't see any benefit in the rifle length gas system? Sounds like the general opinion runs 18 w/ mid length gas? Hey, as for gas, considering the hot and cold of these things getting tuned in, is an adj gas block the way to go? If so, any front runners as for brand/model you could throw out to save me time and mistakes on that front? Haha
  14. Just that this is more of a semi stationary target rifle, so a couple things I suppose; Would have rifle length gas system which would mitigate recoil. Might de-gas what is generally considered to be an over gassed gun (308 AR). The extra length might help with accuracy. A little longer is beneficial in terms of dwell time, etc.. Are you thinking the 18 is a better choice for this build, or just better in general? Thanks for the feedback!
  15. I am thinking I will buy the FA Criterion barrel tomorrow, in a 20"... Say something now or forever hold your peace...piece... anyway you get the idea. This is a hard decision, I feel like its so hard to get a bead on the right call, err!
  16. Thx 98Z5V. If my wife only knew... this build is giving me wood! LOL
  17. I have enough mags loaded to engage any conceivable threat currently, I'll wait until I have the intel to warrant loading THEM ALL. But then again, I have a metric butt load of mags! LOL
  18. BARREL SELECTION Fulton Armory Barrels made by Criterion. 18" or 20" or do I dare go 24" is the question. Here's what I am looking at: http://criterionbarrels.com/AR-10 Might as well get this all out of the way now and explain to my wife once. HA!
  19. RIGHT ON! Is that FDE? Coyote? Looks great!
  20. STOCK PURCHASED Bought it!! Got it in FDE for $186 bucks + shipping from Bud's. https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/714012916/Magpul®+MAG308-GRY+AR-10+PRS®+Precision-Adjustable+Stock+Gray (Mine is FDE, when I went back to copy link to paste it here, the FDE one was, poof, gone. They still have grey, olive, etc in the AR-10 size though.) Thanks again 98Z5V, that's just what I was wanting. Now for the barrel!!! Looking at FultoArmory right now, have bought a couple for AR's in the past, made by Criterion. We'll see.
  21. WOW, now that is what I'm talking about! https://www.magpul.com/products/prs-precision-adjustable-stock-sr25-m110 But damn if its not also uber expensive too, ouch. Just like most things that fall into the uber category I suppose. Ugh. I might just have to have that though, very cool stock, hmm?
  22. Weight is not a big issue for this one, will investigate into the suitability of the Magpul PRS, thank you.
  23. STOCK Q: For a LR/Target gas gun, whats the thinking on stocks, preferably with a cheek weld / length of pull adjustment.
  24. Interesting topic. We have several firearms staged throughout the property, all of which are kept in condition 1. Everything else is kept cleaned, in the safe, in condition 4. A set of loaded magazines for the usual suspects are kept readily available, and the rest are housed in the gun room, unloaded.
  25. Naw man it was me, I was reading the posts that addressed my Q's and somehow the others escaped my attention, my bad, thanks for putting up with me so patiently. Sorry to hear about your family's loss, Godspeed. Good luck with your build!!
