  1. Right on, very cool. This might be your "Pringles", or rather "Bullet Button" innovative moment. Good luck with it!
  2. Glocks are one of, if not the most reliable pistol one could own. No one I know carries a Glock w/o one chambered, just holster it with the trigger guard covered. Regardless of what firearm one carries they must remember what Col Cooper taught us; All guns are ALWAYS loaded. NEVER let the muzzle cover anything which you are not willing to destroy. Keep your finger OFF the trigger until your sights are on the target. ALWAYS be sure of your target. Glocks are very, very safe, it's people that are dangerous.
  3. Ahh... well think how far they'll be behind here in a month or two if this election goes wonky. Ugh.
  4. Done. Thanks for the feedback!
  5. Ya I finally gave in and went to the dark side in '09... ...now I own 5 of them. Haven't shot that one yet though, congrats!
  6. Thank you for the response. To your suggestions; Ambi - Ya I know right, and especially on a LR gun too, but I just seem to put em on every gun I build, will try to forgo it here. Trigger - Yes I am, just got my head stuck around the barrel at the moment, but I will drop something bitch'in in there fire control wise. Scope mount - Will check ADM out, I've been using Badger Ordnance. Bi-Pod - I like the Atlas too, I will probably bite the bullet and do that. Optic - Was looking at the Vortex, I think it was the PST 6-24X50. Thanks again JT!
  7. Hey Guys, So here is my first .308 gas gun build thread. I've listed what I have, and what I need (*), what I know, and what I don't (TBD). If you see something I missed, or am making a mistake on, please chime in. My current struggle is trying to select a barrel and gas system, I am agonizing over it, but I will continue to geek out on Google and pick brains here till I can decide what to do, this build is intended as a target/LR gun. And away we go: THE RRS AP M5 TARGET RIFLE AP M5 Receiver Set Young Mfg BCG *MechArmor Charging Handle AP M5 LPK Milspec Trigger (Plan upgrade - TBD) *Ambi Safety TBD *Grip upgrade TBD Magpul PMags Rifle length Fixed Stock DPMS Rifle length Buffer Tube Stock 308 Buffer Tubbs Flat 308 Buffer Spring *Barrel TBD *Muzzle Break/Flash Hider TBD *Gas system TBD *Barrel Rail TBD *BUIS TBD *Optic TBD *Rings TBD *Bi-Pod TBD Thanks for the input so far, look forward to wrapping this up in the coming weeks. (* = Have not yet purchased item / TBD = To be determined)
  8. Tony I apologize, I didn't pick up, thought we were sorta asking the same line of Q's, and when you said start another thread I thought you were referring to a money crunch, anyway, I'm out and will ask my Q's elsewhere, good luck with your rifle!
  9. 10-4, thx.
  10. I was thinking a rifle length gas system with a 21" barrel, but I guess an 18' barrel with a mid length system would be as good, just in terms of accounting for pressure spike and dwell times... Thoughts?
  11. So I see in searching around there are a few relatively unknown products that are universally liked, are a good value, and work well, the MechArmor Charging Handle for instance, is there a rifle length gas set up or adjustable gas block that falls into that category by chance? And as I am doing a rifle length tube and buffer, is a rifle length gas port/system the right call? This is intended as a target/LR set up. I have had several Criterion barreled AR's SurvivalShop, great stuff!
  12. Thats the plan!!!

Ah, thanks Mike, the bagged ammo in the second pic looked interesting, short and chuncky, my bad. Neat looking rifle!
  14. Yes in his video DT mentions it works in both AR10 and SR25 pattern rifles. So far I have an AP M5 receiver set, an AP LPK, a DPMS (I believe) Rifle length 308AR Buffer tube, the DT spring I just scored, and a Young Mfg 308 BCG.
  15. Bought the Tubbs Flat Wire AR10 Spring, thanks for that recommendation, looks like a cool product! So are we talking just a basic 308 AR buffer from like Brownells or whatever? This gun will be more of a mid-long range precision set up as opposed to a run and gun or HD thing, will have a rifle length stock and gas system on a longer barrel, length TBD, whatever the barrel guys tell me will work best. I hope I'm not thread jacking here Tony, but thanks for letting me hitch a ride.
  16. Thank you. Copy that, thanks.

What is that chambered in 98Z5V?
  18. Is there a consensus on generally what the right rifle length buffer and spring set up is for these non Armalite guns? I ask in hopes of sparing myself having to buy bins full of buffers and springs needlessly. I realize it's all about tuning to the gas - mass - and spring, and I will be running 175gr Federal Gold Medal Match ammo. I've always liked Sprinco and would like to support Alan, and I was considering Slash's AR10R-XH Heavy Buffer. What say you all?
  19. Is the Aero Precision LPK paired with the AP M5 receiver set the right way to go, or is there another LPK we should be using?
  20. Haha, well thanks guys! Bill is an amazing fella, will have to keep an eye on that spring. I've been a fan of Alan over at Spingco so far as springs go.
  21. Not to digress or thread jack.. but whats the story on the springs?
  22. Why a semi auto .308 AR? Human nature I suppose, hey, if you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space...
  23. Howdy Fellas, Just a quick note to introduce myself, I am interested in building a .308 cal AR platform rifle, so via the magic of Google here I am. Look forward to digging around and filling in the blanks, which this non MilSpec stuff seems to offer up in spades. Thanks for being here. - RRS
