  1. Swapped in Larue MBT trigger. MUCH better than stock but I'd honestly say not as good as my SSA-Es. I'd say OK results overall but I'd still like to see a bit better accuracy.
  2. I did a lot of reading about this. Very long story short. It's worth checking your chamber. Mine was well within tolerances for 308. I've now shot about 50 rounds 308 through it. The 1:12 twist barrel stabilized 175 and 180 grain bullets out to 100 yards. The 175 SMK Federal Gold Metal Match ammo left touching holes at 100 yards. Better than I expected. Also the 1:12 is better for LIGHTER bullets. So the 147-149 and lighter are good to go. 175/180 is about the border for 1:12 and heavier should probably be using 1:10

  4. Found the stamp. It's 7.62 NATO stamped 1:12. Look right behind the gas block on the top of the barrel. It's REALLY hard to see but it's there on mine.
  5. What kind of accuracy are you getting out of the SS upper? I'm pretty sure my barrel has 308 on it.... I'll have to check.
  6. The 180s shot a 2.25" group. Again. I know it was more me than the gun. Especially with that trigger. Did I mention how heavy and gritty it is? I was just hoping that the 175s would stabilize enough in this barrel and it looks like it will be GTG. Once I get some ammo made and get it figured out I'll stretch it out and see how it goes. No photos of the rifle...but I promise you it looks EXACTLY like the photos on PSAs site. I'll get some the next time I take it out.
  7. I might just try the Larue I've heard good things about it. I LOVE my SSA-Es but even if I don't like the Larue as much I've got some other rifles it can be moved to. So I have confirmed that the GEN2's lowers should be fine with all drop in triggers. I'm going to try to swap in one of my SSA-Es to see.
  8. Finally got it out to the range, barrel seems like it's up to the task. Trigger definitely not! Since I've not found much info on the Gen2 lower and triggers I'm off to do research.
  9. Followup. I picked up the Gen2 complete lower and the gen 2 upper: PSA Gen 2 PA10 18" Rifle Length CHF 308 WIN 1:12 15" MI SSK15 - with NiB BCG and Charging Handle - 77932896 Finally got a chance to get it out to the range. Only got about 25 rounds through it but it definitely shows potential. So far 100% function, very consistent ejection. I used 180grain win (wanted to push the boundaries of the 1:12) and 175 Fed GMM. The attached image is of 5 rounds of the GMM. The win shot about a 2" group. The 1 and only complaint so far....the trigger is horrible. Well, I guess I should say it's pretty on par for a gun of this cost. However I know for a fact that trigger kept me from a better group. So now...off to find out of the Geissele actually fits this lower without modification. I know there were issues with gen 1 originally. But a new trigger and I'm going to be super happy with this gun. I have no doubt this will be about a 3/4" shooting barrel which I'm MORE than happy with. Was using a 4-16 Vortex Viper PST at 100 yards
  10. Thanks
  11. and...back on topic. Google search got me here.
  12. I'm not sure if this is going to be a "build" yet...but maybe. While building another AR15 I stumbled across the PSA PA10 and decided to give it a shot. I ordered a complete lower and complete upper separately. (see that's not a build) I can't really say why other than I've wanted a .308 patterned AR for a while but never a really took priority in my gun buying. Since the price seemed decent I figured I would give it a shot. Knowing what I already know about ARs I made some assumptions and possibly after reading here they very well might have been wrong. I would like the gun to be reliable but honestly that's not very important to me. This will likely just be a range gun and paper puncher(possibly hunting). So as long as it's not jamming up constantly I could live with a few feeding issues. However...I do think in the long term accuracy will be important to me. Now every's view of accuracy is different. If this gun will shoot 1 moa or smaller at 100 yards that would be great and I'd likely not touch anything anytime soon. However if it is worse than that. Knowing what I know about an AR there are 3 things that make them shoot accurate. 1. Barrel 2. good free float hand guard 3. good trigger So number 3 seems easy as others have reported being able to use good aftermarket triggers in these. My main concern is #1. IF this barrel doesn't shoot well. Is it really as simple as getting a good barrel and Bolt? Meaning is the upper standard enough that I can get a good aftermarket barrel and either bolt or BCG to swap out? First things first...I really need to get some different lead downrange and see what the stock barrel does. I've got a nice Vortex that will help me get that sorted out. Thanks in advance...and if this is like anything else I've built...this will likely not be the ONLY 308 gun I'll own...
  13. +1 for a Gen 2 PA10 upper and lower on the way

And which would be the best forum here to ask some questions about the PSA Gen2 PA10? I don't see a spot for it currently?

Ditto all of the above...minus the Pitt grad, only Penn State.

    New from PA

Hello all, new guy here from PA. Have built 1/2 dozen AR15 platform guns in multiple variants over the years. I'm also a competition pistol guy (Ok WAS...haven't done a match in a few years) and I handload. I was recently getting some parts for the ARs I'm building with my sons (one for each) and came across what seemed like a great deal on the PSA PA10s. I ended up with the Gen2 lower and upper complete assemblies. Of course AFTER purchasing I start reading and came across this site...so I currently don't have HUGE hopes for the gun...but maybe a good intro in the AR10/308 platform. I also ordered some various ammo as I do not have any other 308 guns. I have however shot and hunted with a REM700 multiple times. After I get the gun and run some rounds through it I will know more of what I want to do with it....and if I need to do anything with it. Thanks for the knowledge!
