  1. If I'm not not mistaken, I thought you could get a stripped lower from Anderson? http://www.primaryarms.com/anderson-manufacturing-ar-15-stripped-lower-receiver-ar-15-a3
  2. Very nice! Looks like you're about to have a lot of fun out at the range.
  3. I don't know how much people keep up with what our "representative" are doing, but I thought I would put this out there for anyone who wanted to make their voice heard to try to stop them. *admins- Please forgive me if this is the wrong section to post this in, "Firearm industry news and gossip" seemed to make the most sense to me. ? There are a few bills coming up in the State judiciary for a vote on Monday the 17th of this month. They are meeting at 8am to discuss it and are giving people 2 minutes to make their voices heard. 2 minutes! Bureaucrats! Here is a link to give the full description of what they are planning to try to pass and how we can make our voices heard: http://www.oregonfirearms.org/prozanski-is-trying-to-end-lawful-concealed-carry-and-it-gets-worse-act-now
  4. Welcome to the group. And nice set up.
  5. That looks really good! You did some real nice work. Those IS look like they will give some quick acquisition for close up work. I went over and read your build thread. Really nice. I'm very much looking forward to that scope. It's a little ways off at present. We're just about to have our 3rd child, so resources will be tight for a bit. I'd love to hear how it does when you make it out to try it on those hogs. See if those reference marks in the reticle help out or if it feels like they get in your way.
  6. This is what I'm hoping to get. Lifetime warranty and under $300. http://www.primaryarms.com/pa1-6x24sfp-acss-5-56 Here's a shot of the reticle.
  7. Thanks a lot Sketch. But where I will be hunting in Oregon, that would be way more magnification than I would ever be able to use. Its lowest setting would be about the max. I was actually looking into getting one from Primary Arms when I can afford it: http://www.primaryarms.com/pa1-6x24sfp-acss-5-56 I probably won't be shooting out past 250 yards. Lots of trees and cover. Here's a pic of the reticle on the scope I want.
  8. Very nice work!
  9. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. As my budget, and wife, allow, I look forward to doing a bit of work on my rifle and I would greatly appreciate everyone's input. 98Z5V, when you mounted that scope, what size rings did you wind up using? High, extra high? Do you have some BUIS on your rifle?
  10. Look'n good! It's always nice to see things come together. You and your dad did a real nice build.
  11. Hello everyone! Please pardon my manners, I skipped over introducing myself and went straight to asking a question about my handguard. I'm new to black rifles. As far as rifles go, I used to own a 30/30 Winchester as a kid and my dad had a 308 Savage that he'd let me shoot as often as my shoulder could take it. I was between 10-12 years old and growing up in Texas. Now I love in Oregon and am looking forward to getting back into hunting and shooting. I picked up a DPMS GEN2 AP4, and have only taken it out shooting a few times in the 6 months I've had it. This thing feels like nothing to shoot. Everything is stock on it, for the moment, but I barely feel anything when I shoot it. I'm looking to change out the handguard, put on a Primary Arms 1-6x24, and an Indian Creek BFD, when I can afford it. Why couldn't I get into a cheap hobby, like whittling or something?
  12. Thank you. I could use all the help I can get. This was at 100 yards with those Iron Sights. It was pretty much at the extent of what I could see. Definitely need a scope and some real estate toward the muzzle to hold onto for stability.
  13. Thank you gentlemen. That's a great idea about Amazon! I will definitely check them out. And yes, what I was thinking about would use the existing delta ring and handguard cap. Just didn't know if the size was the same and if anyone had any experience with it. Here is a pic of the guard I was thinking of using. They even have the measurements! If I have to do a bit of metal work to make it work, it seems like it would only be minor.
  14. This is what I was thinking to install: http://www.opticsplanet.com/leapers-utg-pro-model4-superslim-drop-in-handguard.html Just didn't know if anyone had any experience with something like this. Didn't know if this, meant for AR 15s, would work on my 308, as it says that the Gen 2's do work with many AR 15 handguards
  15. Actually, that's what I was trying to avoid. I wanted to keep the FSB.
  16. Hello everyone. I've been trying to find any info about swapping out the handguard on my AP4 for an extended handguard. DPMS says "accepts more 2 piece MSR handguards than previous LR-308." which of course means nothing when you're trying to get one. I've only gotten to punch paper so far with it, but I will be using it for hunting, and would like the extra reach to stabilize. In Oregon, I don't think I'm going to shoot out past 200-300 yards, on the outside, as it's pretty dense hunting terrain. Most shots will be within 200, so I will be using my IS or my scope, when I get one, on 1x-2x for most of my shots. A bipod or a forgrip may come into the picture down the line, but for now, I'd just like to reach a bit further down the barrel. Any ideas or suggestions? The pic is when I just brought her home, about 6 months ago. Definitely going to change the handgrip too!
