Well now that my setup should be ok for a barrel swap. Back to the 6.5 CM vs 260 in a gas gun which is better question, Ive also read that the 260 was designed more for a bolt gun and it has to tuned way low for a gas gun. Will it loose to much speed being tuned for a gas gun, will the 6.5 CM be better in a gas platform? Ballistic Advantage has an 18" midlength 6.5 in their listings, seems it might work since its a factory option from them. Thanks

No, it'll be a whitetail gun first and paper punching second, farthest on deer is 350yds and 500yds on paper. My setup right now is a full aero 16" 308 upper with their melonite BCG and an odin works adjustable gas block, aero lower with hypertouch 24c trigger. Armalite buffer tube extension with a 308 JP enterprise polished spring and a daneil defense 6 position stock.

I built an AR 308 and would like to try a 260 or 6.5 barrel. I've read some statements on another forum and it said the 260 has many issues running in a gas gun, very finicky, bolt carrier issues, firing pin issues just to name a couple. So is the 260 Remington or 6.5 creedmoor an easier swap from a built 308 AR? Im looking to just buy a barrel and swap them out. Thanks

I'll look into the SST's, I've had good luck with their bullets before, I used to use the Hornady XTP 180gr in my 357 MAX encore, talk about a deer slayer! Thanks for all the replies.

Im going to some sporting goods stores at lunch to see what they have. We have a gander mountain in town...so...might catch a deal.

Downside to that for me is my rifle will be a deer hunting rifle first, paper puncher second. Match grade bullets aren't geared towards hunting.

Out of the 70 i shot the other day there wasn't any malfunctions. I've already contacted Aero as they guarantee their barrels to shoot moa, but they use 147gr match grade bullets. They said to shoot it 50 more times and if it doesn't tighten up to get back with them. Im going to try some ammo in the 165-168 range and see how that goes.

Ive already cleaned the barrel with copper solvent, but havent shot it again. It is a 1:10 twist and i was shooting 150gr factory loads and handloads. Everything is tight that needs to be, i double checked before, during and after shooting, It's chambered for 308. As for headspace, i dont know how to check it. I bought it as a complete upper from aero precision. How does one check it? It does have a hellfire muzzle break on it. Ill take it off next go around. Thanks

How many rounds need to be fired before i address the ejection and accuracy issues? Thanks

it functions fine but I don't want excessive wear and tear if it can be fixed with a heavier buffer or an adjustable gas block. Right now accuracy is terrible, 2"-3" groups at 100. But I've been told AR 308's don't like 150gr bullets in a 1:10 twist, so I guess I'll try 165's or something in that range.

I don't have an adjustable gas block.
