I love this. My great grandfather came here with his wife and young child from Germany in the late 1930s. He forbade my grandfather from speaking German in the house. To him, speaking English was a way of taking pride in his American citizenship. My grandfather went on to serve in Korea, my uncle in Vietnam. American patriots the lot of them. Maybe this is why I get so--offended? angry?--when I see people at work who are using our health system either for free through Medicare/Medicaid, or are simply not paying at all, and speak absolutely ZERO English (I work in healthcare if that wasn't obviously implied). I use interpreter services literally every day to provide care to people who are NOT citizens, have no intent on becoming citizens, and are reaping the rewards of our country without ever having given anything back in return. Here's the thing though: I'm not anti-immigration. I think immigration is what our country is built on. I'd even go so far as to say that forcing illegal immigrants out will crash our economy. But would it be too much to ask that immigrants at least give it SOME effort? I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir here... but thanks for listening anyways. These aren't exactly the types of thoughts I can voice at work without becoming an outcast. And for the record, if God forbid I ever moved to Vietnam, I would learn Vietnamese.

Does anyone have a ground penetrating radar unit and/or backhoe I can borrow?

Called them on Tuesday. Gentleman told me he'd look into it and call me back. Still waiting...

I bought this Armalite 10 rounder from a guy on another forum and it doesn't look like any of the other magazines I have: Note the polymer follower, the reverse round order, the strange metal tab on the rear of the follower, and the lack of an angle at the bottom of the magazine. It seats properly, but I haven't test fired it. Not sure if I should just send it back to the guy? Is this legit or did I get swindled?

I heard Mega was bought by Zev Arms and the QC has gone down the toilet. I haven't seen the issue personally, but worth checking out before you spend that kind of money.

Hell, my safe is already full, aaaannnd my in-law has 3 that are full. At this point I might as well just convert the entire spare room into a giant safe. Is there a cure for this??

Isn't there a more nuanced and complicated way to do this? That just seems to... easy.

Yeah my lady's old man is a retired fed. He did firearms instruction for years and is a dedicated bolt gun guy (although he's dabbled with a few AR-15s). He was at the range with me and was floored by the accuracy of the thing under the conditions (poor trigger, poor ammo, poor-ing rain). We shot a PTR 91 that I acquired along with the AR 10 that shot 1.75" @ 100yds with open (!) sights using the same surplus ammo. The PTR is an older A-series when JLD was still using the Wilson heavy barrels and has a trigger job done by an HK specialist around here. I'm excited to put some glass on that beast soon, too. All in all, I think he's turned the corner and had become a believer in semi auto platforms.

Have a HIPERFIRE HIPERTOUCH 24C already on the way. A lot of the guys I shoot PCC with swear by them and there was a black Friday deal on them for $160. Strangely enough, the rifle actually fell in my lap after I'd ordered it. It must have been meant to be.

Hi from the Seattle, WA area. Fell into this AR-10 thing recently without knowing what it was. Landed an Armalite AR-10 B-series and went to the range yesterday to sight in some glass for it: shot 1.25" groups @ 100yds with a standard, creeps through a mile-long gravel parking lot before it breaks, military trigger, and military surplus ammo. Needless to say I have a match trigger on the way and some match ammo screaming to be shot. I expect (hope?) to get sub MOA groups, which out of a semi auto, AR platform rifle is just insane to me!

I recently acquired an Armalite AR-10 B-series rifle from my brother, and I'm trying to identify what it's stock configuration was. Looking at this amazing post: Is there a way that I can identify exactly which rifle I have and what it's original confuration (buttstock, forend, sights, etc.) was? My particular rifle has a US329XXX serial number, "AR-10" marking, 20" bbl, M4 feedramp cuts on the upper receive and chamber, military trigger, A4 flat top, rifle length gas system, and the gas block has what looks like only a single picatinny cut across the top. What else should I look for? picture for reference:

survivalshop: Thank you so much! That post is incredible. So it appears the Armalite pattern rifles ONLY come in 18 TPI barrel nut patterns. That answers my original question. How does the JP handguard compare to the stock Armalite free float tube? I'm aware there's about a $100 price difference. Besides the modular rail accessories that can be added to the JP tube, is there any other difference? I'm only really planning on having a bipod attached as this is a 20" bbl model and it's really designed (in my opinion) for long range use, and the Armalite version has a swivel stud attachment point for the bipod. The closer to the original configuration I run the gun in, the less work I'll have to do when it comes time to sell it in the future, and I like the appearance of the Armalite free float tube. jtallen: Good to know, thank you! shepp: Thanks. Will do. sisco: I'm not necessarily looking to get rid of the JP tube. I'm more interested in having the stock handguard on hand (along with an A2 buttstock) to convert the rifle back to stock in several years when I'm ready to sell it. Unless of course I find a handguard I like better in the meantime. Because this rifle is going to be dedicated to long range, I'd prefer a free float design versus a clamshell design for now. I'm also interested in what the original configuration actually was for my specific rifle, but I'm going to make another post about that because I think it'll be too off topic to the original post.

Hi. I recently acquired an Armalite AR-10 B-series rifle from my brother and I'm looking to convert it back to OEM form. It currently has a JP VTAC free float tube and I want to change it to either a clamshell or Armalite free float forend. So here's my question(s): It's my understanding (I may be wrong) that the A-10B series uppers came in two different versions. One had a 16 TPI barrel nut and the other had an 18 TPI barrel nut. Firstly, is this correct? Secondly, is there a way I can tell which version I have without removing the JP forend and test fitting a known TPI nut? Thirdly, Where can I get a replacement barrel nut and forend? I've looked over Armalite's website and they have a very limited selection, half of which is out of stock. Here's the rifle for reference: https://imgur.com/a/s7hoe
