What made you decide to move to the 308 AR/AR-10 Platform?

70's era Marine trained on M14 and loved it, but for the maintenance it required. M16 never seemed more than just a toy. Lots of time and distance between then and now, but, can't shake the caliber...it's in my head and bones. -
Is the above on 10-/27 the final version?
