Is it still safe to operate without the spring for the takedown pin? Btw this is my first AR I'm very inexperienced with building them so any help I'm very grateful for I'm not gonna pretend to know what I'm talking about to sound cool haha.

When changing the pistol grip out on my armalite ar10a I was carful to not lose the Denton spring and I didn't I still have both springs but I bent one the one closest to the trigger is fine is one just a spare ?
