PA10 GEN II, My Findings On Parts Info and Range Data (Log)
Gopher replied to GoodByNAair's topic in Palmetto State Armory
I went to the range today and will have a report, basically I am a noob and didn't remember to lube up bcg after every 3 shots so I had issues but that is my fault and going to clean and lube gun tonight. I did have to sight in scope too and will post pic of target but I am really happy with the PA scope. Let me put something together and try to interrupt what happened at the range today, I will do this soon. -
Thats cool, thnks

I guess I better introduce my self since I have been posting in the PSA forums for a few. I am from Texas and have had guns all my life (30+) years and have been hunting since I was a little kid. I have been hunting with traditional guns like a win mod 55 lever action 30-30 and a win mod 94 lever action 30-30 plus my 22 and 410. I was turned on to AR's about 2 years ago when I go a call from my Uncle that Academy has a great sell on their S&W M&P15, so I went down to my local academy and bought one ( wife did not know at the time but found out and is still pissed today about it, lol). So, I found out from my Uncle again that keep an eye out on this company called PSA, he bought a lower unit pretty cheap. Well I came across PSA web sire on day and they had anniversary sell with their lowers, an AR15 and a PA10 so I bought them. So I have built the PA10 lower with the PSA upper parts and have had fun (and cry's) doing so and love it. I think this is my crack and hope my wife doesn't leave me. Here is a pic of my new PA10 with a Primary Arms scope:

Ok quick update: I have confirmed that the steel mag I had was causing the issues with hammer not shutting all the way, I tested it on my buddy's PSA AR10 (will post his setup later) and it did the same thing, would jam up the bolt and not shut all the way. He let me use his Magpul Pmag 10rd mag and everything seems to work smooth and I put my steel mags in his and they would jam up the same way that mine was. I have still not fired this gun yet, so will try to get both steel and brass reports out of my PA10. I will have more to report tomorrow when we head to the range with a crap load of guns: 2 PSA PA10s, AR15's and a platform AR 410, god knows what else he is bringing. -

The hammer will hit the shell and shell will go into chamber but bolt get stuck half way, I am thinking maybe not enough force to push past mag after hitting shell? -

Ok to today's update: Went to the range to fire for the first time and now workie, here is what happened. Items: PSA Upper and lower (same as in post above) PA Mags: http://www.primaryarms.com/10-308-SS-BM-B-ASC Academy Ammo: https://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/monarch®-fmj-308-winchester-150-grain-rifle-ammunition#repChildCatid=28631 Ok, so I went to the range today and want to fire my PA 10 for the first time. Before I left I lubed up everything to make sure no dry fire, got to the range and loaded 1 round of the ammo above and was ready to shoot but it seems that either the ammo or the mag is causing a jam up (No pics here, sorry). I had bought 2 mags of the same from PA so I tried the other mag with the same result. So long story short, kinda sadden that I couldn't fire the rifle . Not sure if its the mag not playing nice (hammer seems to close fine with out and ammo in it) or if its because I went cheap with the ammo (the cheapest I could find because I just wanted to fire a few rounds to test weapon). I am going to contact PA and see if they are hearing issues on there end from others, I will also probably see them this weekend at the gun show and can talk face to face with them. Just a few findings here on my side. I forgot to check GoodByNAair post above, maybe its my spring too, I need to verify with my buddy who also has a PSA setup and see what ammo he shot a few weekends ago with out issues. -
Thanks of the info and cant wait to see the videos!

Yeah some good info, thanks for putting this together GoodByNAir. It will help me when I get my PSA Gen2 PA10 rifle kit (503654) in tomorrow. Also, Thanks 98Z5V for the info on the scope, I just ordered one and did not even realize that they are here in Houston. I see a trip down to south Houston to check out their store. -

I just bought they PSA 10 year Anniversary Lowers, PA-10 and AR-15. I am looking to put together a good upper kit for the PA-10 to use for my new hunting rifle here in Texas and this will be my first build for the PA-10. Is this a good build kit: http://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-pa10-18-308-win-1-10-nitride-mid-length-rifle-kit-516445787.html I do not like the A2 gas block stile so would want to change that out with a lower gas block and is that possible, I have read reviews on other sites it is not. (I know it voids the warranty which I have read on here). Or should I wait for another kit that is more like this one: http://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-gen2-pa10-20-rifle-length-308-win-1-10-stainless-steel-15-m-lok-acs-l-rifle-kit-516446763.html But an assembly kit when they come back out? I am new to the forums but have been watching some of the post so kinda know a few new things from this forums. This will be my first build kit and I am biting at the bit to complete it but don't want to set my self back either. Thanks for any advice and thanks in advance.

This thread has helped out a lot guys, I am also new to these forums and the AR format, currently have a S&W M&P15 AR15. I have also been wanting to put together an AR10 for hunting purpose and have had questions about it (been hunting here in Texas with my model 94 30-30 lever action rifle for years). So here is what I have coming in the mail, PSA Gen2 PA10/AR15 10 year anniversary stripped lowers and have been looking for an PSA Gen2 AR10 upper assembly to complete my AR10 hunting rifle. I have been under the impression that you would be better off with a 18-20" long barrel but you guys seem to think it is ok to go with a 16" which helps me out when looking at the PSA upper assembly kits. Anyways, thanks for the info, and any advice on a good upper would help.
