Meh. I've got a handful of rra varmint triggers, and a couple handfuls of larue mbt2s both straight and curved. They both feel clean, crisp and light. I do prefer the larue for their aaesthetic. I've not had an issue with rra triggers, I've had them longer than the others. I've known about other people's issues since I bought my first one 10 years ago. Some people can have issues tying shoes, I use shoe laces too.

No mix up possible. The set screw is in the side, very small, stainless. The restrictor screw inserts from the front, much larger, and was visible when viewing up in to the gas port hole. I'd actually ran it out far enough that the set screw could then be threaded in blocking the restrictor screw. I'll add that the set screw is forward of the gas port.

It worked straight from PSA. I had to add a couple quarters to time the BCG and keep it from eating the lower receiver extension. Other than kicking like a rented mule with what appeared to be a choked off adjustable gas block, it shot ~2" groups at 100 yards. No tack driver, but you're gonna kill whatever animal you're shooting. He just didn't like the stainless look to the barrel. Finding a black barrel for creedmoor seemed like slum Pickens without spending a lot. Anderson had those barrels in a Christmas flyer and it gave his mom something to get him that he'd actually like. Now, gas block wide open, and an AR15 spring(was about a half inch shorter than stock, but more coils). Went back to stock buffer(3.250@3.86 ounce). Never had a problem cycling ammo even with chocked down GB, just initially wouldn't chamber a new round. Adjusting gas block almost full open fixed that, but wouldn't catch last shot hold open(even opening gas black all the way). Lighter spring fixed that. Another 200 rounds after that, zero issues. Shooting about 3/4" 5 shot groups. But to be fair, better groups were shot with Bushnell engage, PSA SS barrel was always shot with primary arms 1-8 scope. The cross hair in the Bushnell is probably the finest cross hair I've ever used, so easy to place it where you want it precisely.

Posted in PSA as well, wasn't sure if it's frequented much and this is kind of a builder now anyway. My son bought a complete upper and lower from PSA 6.5 creedmoor, was pretty pleased with it, shot pretty good. His only complaint really was the SS barrel. His mother didn't know what to get him for Christmas, so I sent a link to an Anderson barrel I'd research to see what barrel extension it had. It was an 18" black nitride. She got that for him for Christmas. We installed the barrel couple weeks ago, just today weather had been decent enough, we got a few rifles out to shoot and zero some scopes. During disassembly, fully expecting barrel nut issues from being over tightened, we were pleasantly surprised, while tight, it wasn't overly tight. First thing I noticed was the gas port in the Anderson barrel was considerably smaller. Looking at the gas block from PSA, the adjustment screw appeared to be screwed in damn near all the way. Couldn't see the end of screw from inside gas port, was recessed about an 1/8" from adjustment end. He'd also bought a comp for it. Loaded a 20 round mag and went about zeroing the Bushnell engage. Took about 4 shots to get it zeroed, rifle functioned great. He set out to shoot some 5 shot groups. For a 150.00 barrel, I figured it'd shoot about as good as the PSA barrel. We were both amazed at how much more accurate his new barrel is. Every group had all bullet holes touching, never had two out of 5 touching with old barrel. To be fair, this engage scope is 100% better than the PA 1-8 scope he's bought and shot previously with the PSA barrel. That engage scope was extremely accurate. First shot was wide right. For kicks, I had him adjust left, 36MOA. Fired another shot(WAY left, intentional, it was off that far. Went back to the right 36 MOA, shot again, 3rd shot touching 1st shot. Just happened, elevation was dead on at centered reticle for 100 yards, shot right 8". Adjust left 8 MOA, hits bullseye (4 shots to zero). I said it functioned flawlessly, but it was actually a single shot. After zeroing, he started his group shooting and I'd adjust gas block between shots until it not only ejected(which it did from the get go) but catch another round. Got the sorted, after 20 rounds, it didn't lock bolt back. Next we did one one in mag at a time until I had gas block completely open. Still not holding open. I'd put an H2 buffer in it to try to smooth out how it came from factory, so we installed the buffer PSA built it with. Still no joy. I had an assortment of carbine springs from various ar-15's. Luckily the lightest weight spring finally allowed last shot hold open. He's only used the 2 Magpul 20 round mags, they've always worked great. He'd bought a couple 10 rounds, those wouldn't work at all in this PSA right, was too tight, couldn't insert with bolt closed, with open, it had tension but locked in. BCG wouldn't strip a round at all using bolt release. They work fine in my Ceratac AR 308 though. He's pretty stocked with his PSA PA 65 now, it's all blacked out, and shoots lights out, he wAs grinning ear to ear

Been wanting a new range finder, my old nikon aculon has been pretty good, but a couple complaints is limited to 550 yards(reflective) and the display info is in black(target shooting is fine, but lacks in low light and on animals or in the woods, gets lost easily to my eyes). Researched the BDX after watching a few videos, being a bit techy, it appealed to me. Packaging is nice, magnetically closed lid! Couple photos comparing range finder view(best I could do with cellphone) Kilo1800 Nikon Aculon Size comparison I bought the combo kit with the Serria3BDX, 4.5-14x44 Weight wise, I'd say it's comparable to a primary arms, or Bushnell engage. Definitely heavier than Leupold. Glass is great, I'm not an optics connoisseur, but it's hard for me to see a difference between the glass on this scope, versus that of the Leupold VX3i or Nikon Black fx1000. Some won't like the reticle, it's thicker than the two previous mentioned scope's reticle as well as the engage. I've got a Nikon buckmaster scope(my dad's) that the glass is less than great, but has a reticle a bit thicker than this Sig BDX. The illuminated dots for windage and elevation are considerably finer than the actual reticle. It'll also let you know if you are canted right or left(you can adjust this in the Sig BDX app from 1° on up). For those that have never heard of the BDX system, the range finder and scope can be paired together via Bluetooth using your smartphone, and the Sig BDX app. They can be used independent of each other, but that doesn't take full advantage. Once paired. Zero the scope to whatever distance you want(100yards recommended). Once zeroed, you can range your target, the range finder highlights the appropriate elevation dot, and windage, then just put dot on target and shoot. Of course you'd need to have your ballistics entered in to your app, up to 25 ballistics can be saved. Whatever ballistics you have open in you app is sent to the scope, the scope uses that information along with user entered wind data, and range finder distance and elevation to set optimal reticle elevation dot displayed in the scope. It's supposed to be accurate to 1 MOA, from the videos I've watched, it appears to be just that, we'll see. The kilo 1800 ranges to 1200 yards on animals, 2000 yards reflective. It'll adjust scope out to 800 yards with a 100 yard zero on the scope

Stopped in Bass Pro's outlet in Springfield last weekend, don't usually look in the front cabinet but a knife caught my eye. While looking at it, someone had them get a scope out of the cabinet. After he was done looking at it I decided to check it out. Looked through, zoomed in and realized it was FFP so looked at the price. Retail 299.00, outlet, 120.00. hmmm. While inspecting, counter help is saying 30 day money back return. It was a 6-24x50. Glass didn't appear damaged, had lens clithe, and neoprene scope cover. Looked good except could tell it had been mounted, had scuffs from rings on bottom side. They also had what appeared new, a 4-14x44, same model for 130.00. Wasn't looking for a scope but bought both. Had never handled a Cabela's branded scope nor knew anything about them, but the glass looked really good, even at full zoom and with good eye relief. Decided I'd try them out PDQ in case they needed to be returned. Lapped a Burris PEPR and installed the 6-24x50. Ran the windage and elevation full range a half dozen times to see what the MOA range was, both had 50, even though Cabela's sight says 40 for this one. 15 MOA per revolution. Shot with it today @ 50 yards(lunch hour, not a lot of time). For shot 2.5" low and left, 2nd shot 2" low and left(hmmm maybe why it was returned, or maybe just settling in). 3rd shot 1.5" low, 2" left. 4th shot over laps 3rd. Decided to make first adjustement. 4 moa right, 3 up. 5th shot center top of 1 moa bullseye, shots 6-10 all overlapping shot 5, could cover with a penny. Pretty pleased with initial outting. Will pull off rifle and roll around a bit and remount and shoot again when this blizzard moves out. Reticle is tiny when zoomed out, not as easy to read as the impact 60 on my vx3i lrp 6.5-20. but style is very similar, zoomed in to 10 or so and it's easy to read. Side focus gave a very sharp target picture.

I don't know if you looked at that KAW buffer, but I noticed it has a lot taller shoulder on it.

In my search for a shorty 308 carbine buffer, I purchased that KAK shorty 5.3 ounce(8ne is actually 5.12). Aside from making one, this seemed like a reasonably priced option (50 bucks). I just found out that KAW Valley Precision has one that's advertised at 5.6 ounce, regular MSRP is 59.95, but I originally found it at Joe Bob outfitters for 44.95. Joe Bob's didn't list AOL, but the specs at KAW Valley show 2.5". I ordered yesterday afternoon. At that time, after search and you had a scroll down list, that showed 739.00 for all but one FFP and 665.00 for all SFP. Clicking on each one showed same price on product page. After my order confirmation came with higher price, and I'd called in, I noticed last night, the price went up on individual product page to 999 and 899 respectively. But the search results page you scroll through had cheaper price. I noticed this morning that it had all been updated. My Nikon 6-24x50 arrived today. It does not disappoint. With FFP, the reticle zooms in as you increase power. So low power shows smaller reticle. I was worried about this with my 20/30 eye sight. After viewing it at 6x, it's a tiny reticle with 10, 20 and 30 moa numbers, but they are razor sharp and Crystal clear. I didn't notice any CA until about 20x and on up to 24x, but it was still a crystal clear picture, easy to obtain eye relief. The illuminated reticle on this fairly bright, but overcast day wasn't really noticable until about 5 power setting. At 10 it really popped, and was as defined as it is when no illumination is set. So far, given it's my most expensive scope to date, I'm pretty excited about the clarity, especially at the higher magnification where my lesser scopes fall off.

Well, I did it now. Everyone seemed to be the same price for the Nikon and Leupold. Nikon being cheaper by a couple hundred and many saying glass was slightly better, I bought the Nikon. Then I'm browsing brownell's yesterday and searched the Leupold VX3i lrp. They come in 4.5-14, 6.5-20 and 8.5-25. I noticed ALL FFP we're listed at 739.00 with the exception of on of the 4.5-14 models, which was the usual 999.99. I jumped on the 6.5-20 impact 60 FFP. Got my web confirmation number, showed 739.00. bout an hour later got my order confirmation number, showed 999.99... I called brownell's and asked about discrepancy, fully ready for them to say it was listed wrong and was 999. At which point I'd simply cancel the order, I don't freak out on errors. The lady saw what I saw, said wasn't sure why the two prices, but it says 739, and that's what it'll be. I saw ok, but what happens if I get debited 999? They said I would be, but they'd credit 260.99 back. I says if it's 739, then yes I wanted it, but if it's 999, I don't. She reaffirmed it'll be 739. Got my shipping notice, shows 999, got a return adjustment notice for 260.99. Checked scopes on website, they've all been repriced to 999.99. Kinda feel bad about an apparent pricing error, but kinda feel good about a smoking deal.

I ended up with a BSA sweet 223, it was free with purchase of the Burris PEPR. I can't remember if it went to 16 or 20. I just remember it looking cloudy, no matter what. It even came with retail packaged Butler Creek flip ups. All for the 80.00 mount. Still got the mount, I also kept the covers. I gave that scope to someone on one of the forums I frequent. Regarding your zero stop, I was thinking the exact same thing, possibly setting it for 50 after zering to 100. I've shot more deer and coyotes within 50 yards than I have over!

I've got a p223 and m223, both good scopes, think I've got the 22 version as well. Another surprisingly good scope I have is the Bushnell AR scope, got 2 or three of those. They're just a little bulkier. Their reticle is a little thicker than I like, it's thicker than the p223, which is thicker than my vx2.

Ordered a Nikon Black fx1000 6-24x50 XMOA, gonna be here tomorrow. They say the scope should cost more than the rifle, with as little as this rifle cost, I was able afford that saying.... It'll be my first ever FFP and apparently first ever scope with an option for an illuminated reticle (I'd rather not and save weight, but oh well). Really wanted the vx3i 6.5-20 LRP, but FFP for FFP, the Nikon was over 200 cheaper(well, 150 since I had to add a throw lever....). I know better glass is subjective, but all comparisons I could find said the black had better clarity and less CA(both by not much). If it's as good as my Leupold VX2, I'll be a happy camper. If it's like a BSA sweet 223 I looked through once, I'm gonna be pissed....

Such a beautiful day out today! Pulled out all the stops, whipped out my most expensive scope/mount combo. Presenting the UTG/Leapers 4-16x40 AOB with UTG mounts. Battle and time tested! This rifle had 9 rounds through it initially, 5 Tula 150gr fmj(one failed to fire) and 5 federal power shock 180gr sp. Rifle upper was disassembled, cleaned and reassembled. Started today with a 5 round group at 50 yards, zeroed scope and shot another 5 rounds, adjustments we're right on. Used all Tula for those first 10 rounds. This hi end scope has hold over and under marks(read hi end with tongue in cheek). Moved to 100 yards and used second mark for hold under. First group is 5 shots with federal power shock 180gr sp Next group is 5 shots federal power shock 150gr sp Last group is 5 shot Winchester power point 150gr Probably not doing myself any favors here, but I ordered a Larue lt204 with 30mm rings. I haven't pulled the trigger on a scope yet, still mulling that over. I just don't think I can top the quality that is this UTG Leapers scope and ring combo?

I don't think his scope has an issue, it's just finicky on eye relief and having eye centered so it's a full sight picture. His is all original so far. I just read up on the BCG timing on here after I noticed his lower dinged up. Two quarters properly timed his, but hasn't been shot since to see if the recoil violence still allows contact.

My son's PSA PA 65 took two quarters to correct.

Read several reviews, watched videos. My concern is (I'm not sure how to describe this) how is the sight picture. On cheaper scopes it can be a real PIA to get a nice big clear sight picture when looking through, without getting those 'shadowy cresents' on either side. My Leopold vx3 is probably my best scope, super easy to see through and clear as a bell. Doesn't have and of the issue unless you're hanging off the side of the rifle. Very easy to pull up and get a clear view. My son bought a PA 1-8, lower end SFP, it's a tad finicky, and even more so at max magnification. Anyone got any input on this, I'm assuming there's a few actual users here.

Thanks for that clarification! My lr308 spring is 11.5", 28 coils end to end. Took the lower off and put in the vise. With commercial tube installed, lr308 spring and KAK buffer, I inserted the BCG all the way. I could see where the BCG has the ability to hit the lower(if the extension area was designed like PSA). Had ~+3/8" between bolt face and bolt catch. Swapped out commercial tube for milspec and repeat above. The 'shoes'(for lack of understanding or better word) of the BCG do not extend in to lower extension, and it had ~+1/8" between bolt face and bolt catch. Reassembled leaving milspec tube since it's standard 7" depth as opposed to the 7 1/4" depth of the commercial tube.

Just checked that out. Looks identical in length, PSA having 30 coils, orange having 28. Gives me something to compare. You show 11.5" on PSA, I'm thinking my spring labeled lr308 is the longest and it's either 11.5 or 11.75", to many numbers floating around to be exact Will check tonight.

So by that chart, it's showing a 308 carbine spring. I've got an lr-308 carbine buffer spring, does the 'lr' indicate anything different from '308 carbine buffer spring'? It also appears that many springs compressed are longer than the 2.5" buffer, so the rubber bumper isn't bottoming out. It seems the number of coils is key in that, but the chart doesn't give a coil count on the 308 carbine spring(unless I'm blind, which I'm am to an extent)

I coulda swore I saw information pertaining to buffer tube depth, length of spring and coil count, buffer weight, all in one place. I've poured over the stickies but I gotta ask a few questions. My gas port is .081, mid length 18" barrel. Commercial tube that measures 7 1/4" inside(opposite buffer retaining lip), 10.5" spring(.072 diameter wire). Buffer weighed 3.83 ounces. I haven't shot the rifle since initially test firing and it functioned great, but would dent the case mouth pretty good. From reading all the proper specs, of which mine has little in common with, I wanted to see about softening the recoil. I've got an Odin works adjustable gas block, a KAK 5.12 ounce buffer and an assortment of springs ranging from 10.25" to 11.75", all are .072 wire. I've also got an available milspec tube with 7" internal depth if need be. What would be best to start with? It's still got the non adjustable gas block installed (debated whether or not an adjustable is worth the time given the .081 gas hole). I went with a 10.75" spring and KAK buffer, and my BCG timing looks the same ~1/8" between bolt lugs and bolt catch max. I'd like to get it out to sight in a scope this weekend. Kinda wanted to play with softening the recoil at that time.
