  6. Thanks for the clarification. Pretty cool, man. Where abouts are you at? Any resource for finding ranges that do night shoots? Haven't had much luck finding any in the Northeast. I'm getting closer and closer to upgrading what I have on order to the illuminated. Might as well already spending some serious cash.
  7. Are you talking about using an illuminated reticle behind a clip-on NV unit, or just the scope by itself?
  8. On LPVOs I would say definitely useful. On higher-powered optics, can't really say. My first nice scope was a Leupold Mark 6 3-18x44, w/ illuminated TMR. It'll be crucial if I find myself shooting in a low-light situation or against a really dark target, but I haven't NEEDED it so far. It is nice to have, but you're going to pay for it. I'm about to buy a Mark 5 3.6-18x44 w/ Tremor 3 and can't decide between illuminated and non. The illuminated is hundreds of dollars more.
  9. Every few thousand rounds seems fairly frequent, but it certainly won't hurt. Some manufacturer's have different specs. I built an AR-308 rifle w/ all JP internals that I ended up selling before I even fired it, but there was a blurb in some of the paperwork that came with it saying it wouldn't pass the standard gas ring check, and then went on to explain why. Can't remember exactly the reason.
  10. All my AR-15s have had the WMD NiB BCGs. NiB was the hotness when I first got into the platform, claimed to clean easier, so I went with that. I place much less emphasis on it now. Would probably go with a nitride finish as a few have mentioned, or the Ionbond that BCM has if I was to get a new one right now. The WMDs have been fine and I guess clean a bit easier than standard, but to be honest I don't have thousands of rounds on both so can't give a long-term comparison. I have a Failzero Exo-coated BCG in my AR-308 and it's been fine. About 700 rounds on it so far, cleans up alright. First AR-10 platform rifle however so can't compare it to anything else. I might go for a JP carrier the next time around, as I'm starting to place more emphasis on good barrels with matched bolts.
