I’m thinking about getting a can for my 7mm mag hunting rifle to save my ears or what’s left, my question is how well will it do in a standard barrel? I really don’t want to put a heavier barrel on this gun

Ron Spoomer talks about dropping large animals in Africa with the 130 grn Barnes bullets, but I don’t want to go that small. If I go with the 150 grn I can keep the speed higher and I can practice with cheaper bullets is my thoughts right now.

Elk hunt this year, working up Barnes loads now in 150 and 168 grn

I drew a AZ cow elk tag this year and gearing up the AR 308 with a simple little 3x9 vortex scope, along with working up 150 copper bullets loads. The more I work on this the more excited I get. Had to have an Elberlestock gun slinger pack to go with this year. Almost ready

The buffer is 21/2 The spring is 11 1/2 Tube depth is 6 15/16

It’s a standard 308 carbine buffer. Already have an adjustable gas block bust wanting to tame the recoil a bit more. I had put one in my ar15 and like the results. Also wondering if a heavier spring without changing the buffer would do the same.

Does anyone know where to get an h2 buffer kit for my 308? Everything I’m seeing is way expensive or out of stock.

I know there’s really no such thing as a light scope, hoping someone knew some new technology that I didn’t know about. ya a dream at that price lol

Medium power is probably good and I’d like to stay between 3-500. I had a 1-6 Burris on it and think a little more power would work nicely.

Is it possible to get an economical but light scope for my AR308?

I wanted to update this thread. I spent quite awhile looking for about my price range and what I was looking for and settled on this one below. I bought the stainless version and really like it so far. I just got it and have only measured loaded rounds so far but it feels stout and unlike the others I had that were pretty flimsy and I worried about accuracy with them. I didn’t look for or see where it was made if that’s important to you. I’m sure it’s in the description. Definitely worth check this caliper out.

Did you ever try Staball Match. I haven’t I’m using up the Varget now going to need to buy some pretty soon

I decided to stick around the 150 grn bullets, but will be getting 168 grn Barnes for bigger beasts. i worked up a nice load and my AR308 shoots it well.

Last Sunday my brother and I took his dog on a quail hunt to an area I heard about from a friend. I have been to this area only once before and there is quail but they act strange being as they won’t hold up or fly. They stay just out of range and run the whole time. I don’t think they have been hunted a lot and not sure what to do to get a shot. Needless to say we got skunked. Anyway it was a good day spent time with my brother doing what we did as kids, and even ran into a bobcat. I might have to go back for the bobcat lol with my AR

I’m still looking for decent digital calipers, what brands should I be looking at so I get better than harbor freight this time. Used HF for years till they gave out

I have them separated and looking for more shorties. I got a five gallon bucket of 308 brass I’m going through and processing that a friend gave me. These might have been linked at one point even found a few blanks in the mix lol

I was given a bunch of 7.62x51 brass that I’ve been processing to reload. Most need trim so I’m trimming to listed CTL of 2.005 but noticed some are already short at like 2.000. Are these still loadable or chuck them into the scrap brass?

Ya I have always loved Remington rifles and shotguns. I wish the 1100 was still made
