  1. My mom was going through some pictures the other day and found one of my great grandpa. I barely remember him since I was pretty young when he passed.
  2. I figured there was a better way. I have been using a hard plastic tool that I filed down to the appropriate size to fit inside the carrier. I didn’t want to take a chance of scratching the part that the gas rings seal against
  3. Maybe instead of trying to use my coyote rig, I should get a tactical flashlight and put it on my rpr 17 hmr and use my thermal monocular for the skunks it has a sight height of approximately 1.75”
  4. The 1/4”error was that I took 25 steps instead of measuring or using my range finder.
  5. What do you use to clean the flat part at the bottom of the hole that the bolt goes in?
  6. You are pretty close. When I took the gun out today to check zero I put a target at 25 and shot 2.75” low. Then back to 50 and was dead on. I set this gun up for coyotes since Oklahoma recently changed the regulations to allow hunting coyotes at night with lights or thermal. I have had good luck with that shooting over bait. We have a farm and my wife raises goats. The problem has only been on the much smaller skunks at very close range. I just have to get use to holding over them more when up close. We lost some chickens lately and I have been trying to get the culprits at night. So far I missed one and crippled one.
  7. It’s 223 Winchester super x 55 grain. Says 3240 on the box. I don’t know what barrel length they figure that on, mine is a 18” so that ballistic chart is probably not totally accurate. But should be in the ballpark.
  8. I put the wrong ballistic picture in other post. That was 100 yd zero , this one is 50. I don’t know what the ideal first zero would be
  9. I have a Hogster 35 thermal scope that I can use on my 308 and 556 ar’s. The centerline of the scope is 3” above the center of the gun. That makes it hard to shoot small critters like skunks at close range. Last night I had it on my ar15 and shot a skunk at 25 yds. I know about the fact that it shoots low at close range and try to compensate, but it is frustrating. I zero at 50 yds and have had good luck on coyotes. But the small critters are hard to kill with that really high scope mount. Especially trying to judge exact yardage in the dark. sumbitch got one of my chickens. I hit him and he left a good blood trail when he went under my brushhog. He wasn’t there this morning when I went to move it. Skunk 1, me 0. Shot the gun today and it is still on zero at 50
  10. I guess it’s like a woman. No cheap crap, only the expensive stuff. lol
  11. Actually the main thing I was after on this trip was to just to check the adjustable gas block with the suppressor and the new heavy buffer and spring.
  12. They shot like regular ammo. First, I shot with just one in the mag and it locked open like it should. Since I had swapped out buffer, I was also checking to see if I needed to adjust gas block. Everything was fine with the the cycling and feeding. No problem there. But it was crazy how they were all over the place. I put in 5 pmc soft points and they cycled good too. Grouped about 1”. Then I put in some 168 grain Hornady Black and they cycled good too. And the groups were dime size with them. Gun is good and I am happy with the new buffer and spring. When I bought that ammo, the LGS said if I had any problems with ammo bring it back and he would swap me out. He probably knew it was junk. No misfiring and no cycling problems but darn sure not accurate. I would say that my buffer and gas block are going to be fine if it shoots junk and good ammo too with no feeding problems at all.
  13. I got the new buffer and spring installed so I went to lgs to pick up some more ammo. He had some surplus 7.62 for .50 per round. So I thought I would try it. Holy crap! 6” group at 50 yds. I thought something was wrong with my gun. Put other scope on. Same thing. Took gun all apart and found nothing. Loaded up some Hornady Black 308 and it shot a couple of 3/8” groups. I had no idea that cheap ammo could be so bad. At least the gun cycled good on it.
  14. Thanks, it’s ordered
  15. 7.0”. Same as my other one that has the short buffer

    Buffer

I got this 308 upper from a buddy. He thought it was aero precision but it’s not. It’s unmarked and has a DB bcg. The lower is a new one from LGS. Guy at LGS talked me into the Armaspec buffer. But after reading about them falling apart I am thinking about the buffer and spring pictured last post. Suppressor isn’t on it here

    Buffer

I am thinking about taking out the Armaspec buffer and putting in these in picture. I do have a suppressor I measured the buffer tube etc on my other gun that’s the same dimensions
  18. What about this combo?
  19. Not yet, but I only shot 20 rounds. I read in reviews about them coming apart
  20. I am from northern Oklahoma and a couple of AR’s in 308, one has a thermal and the other is a regular scope. LGS talked me into an Armaspec buffer for one of them. Then I read reviews that it might not have been a great idea.
