SLR rifleworks rail

Recommended Posts

So I ordered a set of Aero Precision M5 receivers. Now I'm trying to find a rail/handguard for them. I have been trying to get a Troy TRX and let me tell ya it was hard to find one at a good price. I gave up. I did find that SLR Rifleworks makes some very nice looking rails for the DPMS pattern high rail height like the M5 is. It looks better than the Midwest rail and as good or better than the Troy.

Does anybody have any experience with them?

They do like very nice, come with a barrel nut and a lockup system. Those are all things to consider.

Next on the list is matching a BCG to the upper and barrel.

The fun has begun.

I do know I am going with the heavy buffer and spring combo and a mil-spec 7075 extension tube, I do like the Vltor ones. I have a Timney trigger and battle arms selector. I'm going with the new Magpul K2+ grip and a SL MOE stock both in OD Green.

Getting there......thanks to y'all I think I'll make it.

I think the 12". They have a few but don't have a lot of info about it. I'm going to call them this week or next and get more information.

I think the heavy buffer will help with recoil and function. I am also probably going to use an adjustable gas block, SLR also makes them. I had a bad experience with a Spikes.

I might just go with a Aero Precision BCG & barrel, 16" mid to keep everything compatible. I'm not crazy about their rails though. The SLR looks good.

It's falling into place......

I'm not sure about a muzzle device yet. I'd like some type of braking, not a full brake. But my experience is that they are loud. With a 16" barreled .308 even the BCM might be too loud. So I'm leaning toward a simple prong like the AAC or Smith Vortex. They do have the effect of limiting noise a slight bit, even a very small amount of braking. Every muzzle device does a bit of all things, some go into the negative though. I'll take a slight bit of noise for a slight bit of braking effect. But the AAC is the direction I'm heading.

I remember somebody here bought one... They called SLR and got a bunch of good info.

Why not go with an AR-10 pattern buffer system if you're getting an adjustable gas block. It'll be cheaper to swap around buffers.

What's the difference with the AR-10 buffer system?

Longer receiver extension (you can use a VLTOR A5 receiver extension), uses AR-10 action spring (or LR308 rifle action spring), and AR-15 carbine sized buffers (start with H3 or H2 if doing adj gas block).
